The participants shall:

ELEMENT 4.2 - MANAGEMENT OF AN INCIDENT

Learning objectives:

27) The participants can describe how to follow an efficient and approved first aid structure and assess and manage an incident (Knowledge, basic level)

28) The participants can describe how to call for help both onshore and offshore and recognise the challenges in remote environments (Knowledge, basic level)

29) The participants can take responsibility for the rescue of injured persons and their removal from the immediate hazard area to the nearest safe location (Ability, intermediate level)

The instructor shall:

Explain how to follow an efficient and approved first aid structure

Ask the participants relevant questions about how to follow an efficient and approved first aid structure

Explain the assessment and management of an incident

Facilitate a group discussion on methods on calling for help both onshore and offshore

The participants shall:

Discuss and understand how to follow an efficient and approved first aid structure

Discuss the importance of assessing and managing incidents

Take part in a group discussion on methods on calling for help both onshore and offshore and how to obtain telemedical advice and challenges associated e.g. poor communication skills, lack of signal, language barrier

The participants can recognise the importance of raising the alarm early and recognising a life- threatening emergency
