Facilitate an exercise on the correct treatment of a casualty with catastrophic external bleeding including the use of available first aid equipment

Give constructive feedback to the participants on their treatment of a casualty with catastrophic external bleeding including the use of available first aid equipment
The participants shall:
Engage in discussions about haemostasis of catastrophic external haemorrhage, threat and detection of catastrophic bleeding, and haemostasis using algorithm-oriented procedure
Participate in the exercise and practise the treatment of a casualty with catastrophic external bleeding including the use of available first aid equipment
ELEMENT 5.5 - “A”: AIRWAY
Learning objective:
40) The participants can act independently in delivering correct first aid for obstruction of airways - establish and maintain an airway (Ability, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Explain and demonstrate:
a. obstruction of airways, e.g. tongue, vomit, foreign object, choking, etc. first aid to an unresponsive, breathing casualty:
a.i head tilt/chin lift and jaw thrust techniques- placing of a casualty in the recovery position
Facilitate exercises for the participants in:
a. checking and opening airways (head tilt/chin lift and jaw thrust techniques)
b. airway obstruction (removal of foreign objects and choking procedure)
