59) The participants can perform a head-to-toe examination (skull, thorax, abdomen, spine, hips, lower extremities, upper extremities) using the A-B-C-D-E principle (Skills, intermediate)
The instructor shall:
Explain:
a. a secondary survey according to the A-B-C-D-E principle and demonstrate a head to toe examination (skull, thorax, abdomen, spine, hips, lower extremities, upper extremities)
b. the A - B – C - D – E- principle in the context of the secondary survey
c. the differences between/indications for sitting, lying and shock position (conscious/unconscious) and the importance of keeping up body temperature
Facilitate discussion on patient assessment tools and checklists e.g. AMPLE, ATMIST
Explain and demonstrate (while seeking the participants’ understanding throughout)
The participants shall:
Engage in answering the questions and share understandings about the secondary survey according to the A-B-C-D-E principle, head to toe examination, patient assessment tools and checklists e.g., AMPLE, ATMIST
Perform head to toe examination (skull, thorax, abdomen, spine, hips, lower extremities, upper extremities)
