GRIEF SUPPORT

MARCH 1, 2025

The success of our first issue has been truly inspiring, and I’m thrilled to bring you our second edition. This issue features an incredible lineup of writers, and our topics are expanding in exciting ways. We’re introducing "Ask the Experts," a brand-new Q&A section where professionals share their insights. We’ve also added a dedicated grief support section to provide comfort and guidance. Colin Walker has joined the team as Content Coordinator, and the lovely Eva Dolezelova as our Operations Assistant. Our talented contributors continue to uplift, educate, and inspire, making this journey even more rewarding. I hope you enjoy this issue as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it for you. With Love and Gratitude, Laurie Smith Editor-in-Chief I am so very happy to be a part of this wonderful magazine. With the guidance of Spirit, the aim is to keep all the incoming content in alignment with current spiritual topics and trends. As content coordinator, I welcome and review the subjects presented along with Laurie and help to edit and transform them into meaningful articles. My aim in my trance teaching is to show people that trance is more than just speaking; we can enable spirit to heal through trance healing, where the spirit provides energy to go beyond levels of distribution of energy from a contact healer. Spirit world knows exact cause and causative factors and they can help us restore health, harmony and balance. In my studies of trance healing, I discovered that the healing continues for four days and it’s often at the end of the fourth day that the recipient feels much better. The Purpose of Trance Part 2 Minister Simone Key

Trance speaking can bring the spirit world’s philosophy on life, giving us guidance and helping us with our understanding. Trance spiritual assessments help those of us developing mediumship to understand where we are in our development, what we need to work on, and what our next step should be. Trance writing and trance art are also aspects of mediumship worth exploring.

One particular area of trance that fascinates me is trance communication. This form of mediumship occurs when the medium’s mind is in the trance state and loved-ones in the spirit world speak directly through the medium to their loved- ones here. Having worked with this aspect of trance for some years, it still amazes me how the spirit can reveal themselves in very meaningful and loving ways. On one occasion I remember, a daughter in the spirit world wished to speak with her mother and the first few words the daughter said were, ‘Wow! Wow! Wow!’. (I usually hear the first few words as I go into the trance state and the last few words as I withdraw from the trance energy). I know I was thinking cynically to myself, ‘is this the best we can do?’ The daughter continued with her message and all seemed to go well and, on return, I could see it was a very emotional experience for her mother but I certainly felt unsettled by the Wow! The next morning, in the breakfast queue at The Arthur Findlay College, the mum approached me, saying how much she appreciated the message from her daughter. I was, of course, touched by her words but still not sure. She then said to me, do you remember my daughter saying, ‘Wow?’ My immediate thought was that I would never forget that as long as I live but, of course, I just said, ‘yes’. She then explained that, in the past, she would email her daughter every day and sign off with ‘Wow’, as in American English this is mom upside down! I also aim to...to be continued

Who Are You?

Seriously.....Who Are You? Not the name on your passport, not the job title on your email signature, not the roles you play in the lives of others. Strip away the labels, the stories, and the carefully curated identity….who remains? question provokes an unsettling pause. We are so accustomed to defining ourselves through external markers of our For most, this successes, our failures, the opinions of others that we rarely stop to ask...

What exists beneath all of that?

There comes a time, perhaps in a quiet moment of reflection, in the midst of personal upheaval or from the pages of a magazine, when the question arises: Is this really me? It is in this moment that you start your awakening. This is the moment where you begin to look beyond what you have been told and seek the deeper truth of your existence. From the moment we are born, we are handed an identity. Society, culture, family, all shaping us with spoken and unspoken expectations. We learn how to behave, what is acceptable, what earns approval, and what must be hidden away. And so, we adapt. We build personas. We curate versions of ourselves that fit the world around us, often at the cost of silencing parts of who we truly are.

Traditions throughout history remind us that we are not just the mind, not just the body, but something more, a consciousness that transcends form. Mystics call it the soul, Taoists call it the flow of the Tao, Spiritualists call it your Spirit, Quantum Physicists hint at a unified field of energy that connects all things. Whatever language you choose, the essence remains: you are more than you have been conditioned to believe. How do you begin to discover the real you? By listening. By turning inward instead of seeking validation from the outside world. By questioning the beliefs you’ve inherited. By embracing the parts of yourself you’ve long ignored. By recognizing that your worth is not tied to productivity, status, or perfection, but to the simple, undeniable truth that you exist and in that existence, you are already whole. So again, who are you? The answer is waiting, not in the world, but within you...

So...You’ve Had Your First Spiritual Experience, Now What?

Here are 5 pieces of learned advice. 1) If you do not already do so, begin a consistent meditation practice. Meditation helps train the mind to focus. There are a plethora of benefits physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually to practicing meditation. 2) Read! There are so many books and articles out there now about different areas of metaphysics, mediumship, psychic abilities, healing, animal communication, shamanism, etc. 3) Take a class with a reputable teacher. This is so easy now because of the proliferation of zoom classes. If you want in person classes ask around or if uncertain, start with a well established spiritual center. 4) Become attuned to an energy healing modality. I am partial to Traditional Reiki healing because it is far more recognized among the general public and used by top hospitals. Your practice of energy healing not only helps the recipients but strengthen your abilities. 5) The Most Important piece of advice I can share - - Do not fear any of it! Since I was not exposed to spiritual topics growing up, I was not exposed to any of the fears or superstitions people have. One of the worst things I see with people starting to have experiences, is their subconscious fears surface causing a less than optimal experience. Enjoy the experience!!!!!

Welcome to my world and take my hand as I share some suggestions to assist you. I was not raised with metaphysical information. So, imagine my surprise when I begin to experience episodes of empathy. At the time I was practicing law and raising 2 daughters as a single Mom. It was a difficult transition, however, I never want to have my psychic or mediumistic abilities dormant again. It is better this way! Now mind you, I want control over them as I developed so they turn on when I am working but not necessarily when I am driving, balancing a checkbook or other focused task. I do not mind the occasional hello or warning from Spirit, but I want to work with Spirit at designated times, like when I participate in a Spiritualist service, give a program or sit with a scheduled client. Spirit wants to work with me and You that way. It just takes some training and practice on our end.

“BEFORE YOU CAN TOUCH THE SPIRIT, YOU MUST FIND IT WITHIN YOURSELF.“ Gordon Higginson

Within my own journey, I have realized that the unfoldment of mediumship is not a process of becoming, but a process of letting go. I am already the medium that I am to become, but I know that I still have areas within myself for healing and transformation. And what a joy that is! I know that for my own journey and for many of us, the spirit within ourselves has gone through a lot. Traumas, life difficulties etc. I believe in a special way, that it is the fuel for our unfoldment. It requires healing and working through things to better understand the spirit within us, and by proxy, the spirit world. Through the process of unfoldment and healing, we become much stronger. Our greatest pain can become our greatest strength and connection to the spirit world.

What Spirit has to say: Unfoldment is the essence of all things. Everything is ever continuing and ever growing. A divine flow of all things comes into awareness and that is the essence of growth. Enjoy the journey and although there may be some difficulties, there is a love that is essential to your spiritual understanding. Patience and knowing that God has you, setting the steps of life in front of you. You are powerful and nothing is beyond your reach. But also, it might not be of the best interest to move forward hastily. Care for the Self. Tend to the Self. Especially in pain, this offers understanding and compassion. And this can be the fertilizer of an awakened soul. Let us take you toward your highest desire. Turn toward us. For we are all one. And we can unfold together, one hand to another hand, walking together toward peace. We love you all.

Aidan Brock Evidential Medium

When you break from your identification with your external reality and end up in nothingness, there is a profound opportunity to crossover. The crossover is from believing everything in your perception is real - especially your sense of separate self- into the understanding we are Spirit dreaming a dream known as you and me. Our false illusions of self will dissolve continuously…it often feels like dying with added dramatic tension. This continuous transformation will eventually lead us out of the existential crisis into the knowing that we are pure love awareness. Our awareness creates infinite thoughts of itself. Every thought is another reality. We are channeling our reality and we are being channeled. We are the dreamer and the dream. As we continue to crossover into this knowing, we can begin to live a newer reality where we can embrace and fully love the ever-changing self with more ease and understanding. Challenges to our version of reality may continue, but we can get back on the surfboard of our lives and ride with the tide of existence with a greater sense of freedom. Freedom is knowing we are not separate, that every experience is temporary, and yet we are eternal. Freedom is the great love that ever binds us in the tapestry of infinite existence. This great love is not a reality, but creates and contains all realities with no boundaries or borders. It is unconditional and all encompassing. True freedom is being able to hold this great love for all beings and all things with grace. Let’s crossover…

By Jennifer Rose

One thing I have learned through the various stages of spiritual awakening and transformation, is that nothing is as it seems and everything is subject to question. Take whatever you think you know and turn it upside down and inside out. You might get closer to the truth or end up on a wild goose chase. It’s all welcome in the unknown… Moving into the realm of the unknown is a bit like a video game, where you travel to the outer edges of the creative reality and find yourself in no-man’s land. You were never aware before that this endless terrain existed, yet here it is like a lonely vast desert to get lost in…or found in. No man’s land happens with a breakdown of your reality, and the way that your mind perceives it, and this is a good thing. While existentially painful, and to some thrill seekers exciting…the shattering of your realities can expand your consciousness to understand the broader multi-dimensional aspects of spiritual creation and existence.

As we step into the new month, Venus shifts into retrograde motion through

April 12. During this time, you're invited to reassess your relationships, confront lingering challenges, and redefine what truly matters to you in love and connection. With Venus in fiery Aries, you may be confronted with ways you've sacrificed your independence in both personal

and professional connections. During Venus retrograde, it's best to hold off on making big changes.

March 2025: A Cosmic Turning Point – Eclipses, Retrogrades, and Major Shifts

March 2025 will be one of the most astrologically intense months of the year, bringing profound shifts in relationships and emotions as both a lunar and solar eclipse shake up the cosmic landscape! During Venus retrograde, it's best to hold off on making big changes to your appearance. Whether it’s a drastic hairstyle, a new hair color, or cosmetic procedures, the chances of dissatisfaction are high. If possible, wait until Venus goes direct to ensure you truly love the results. Mid-month brings a major energy shift with a powerful lunar eclipse on March 14 at 23° of Virgo. On a collective level, this eclipse may catalyze significant world events that expose outdated structures in need of transformation. On an individual level, it could lead to emotional intensity, endings, or breakthroughs in close relationships. Adding to the cosmic intensity, Mercury goes retrograde in Aries from March 15 to April 7, spotlighting communication patterns, especially around conflict and self-expression. This is a time to reassess how you convey your emotions, particularly anger, and to refine your strategies for asserting yourself.

Set Your Spiritual Intentions Your intention acts as an energetic blueprint for the day.

We spend a lot of time setting our intentions so that we can be productive to perform in some way. We manifest and visualize being productive at work, being able to pay the bills or perhaps even to try manifesting a new car. Sometimes we forget about our spiritual intentions, or what we may want to manifest for our soul to experience.

Some Tips for Setting a Spiritual Intention:

When you begin to focus on how you would like to feel, rather than what you want to accomplish, you will start to be much more mindful about how you are spending your time and who you are spending it with. Be sure to be open to receiving what is for your highest good, rather than what you think you may want. Stay in the moment and embrace stillness. If you feel yourself getting caught up in chaos of the day, take a few deep breaths and come back to your center.

Spiritualism is a constant wave of evolution, ever changing and ever transforming. Never before have we witnessed such transformation as is currently occurring. We are in the midst of a new alignment of energies and Spiritualism is expanding its borders. 30 years ago, book stores around the world did not even have a category on their book shelves for content on spiritual matters, simply because it was new to them and also because there were too few books on the subject at that time. When seeking spiritual information, what took a year or two to find, now only takes a few minutes. Technology has changed everything. Computers, Phones, The Internet, Social Media Platforms, Zoom Meetings, Fb, Instagram Tiktok, etc. are all filled with spiritual information as it is streamed ‘Live’ worldwide, with many of the sites having anything from 1k – 250K + followers. The interest in spiritual matters has exploded. This has allowed for the movement of spiritual teachings to be received at the touch of a button. Spiritual classes, courses, retreats, workshops and groups abound with a spectrum of modalities, multi-tiered and multi-faceted. The age group of those interested and aware of spiritual matters has changed and continues to change. CURRENT SPIRITUALISM Colin Walker

Of course, Spiritual Awakenings, Mediumship, Healing and the expansion of Psychic Awareness continues its trajectory of global influence, but the current trend in spiritualism is taking place in the areas of: Trance, Channelling and Multi-dimensional transmissions through the Higher Self. Other areas such as Energy and Light, and the sensing and understanding of wavelengths, frequencies and vibrations also come to the fore as they ripen and come to the surface of the psyche of humanity. Without the ego, grasping and attachment of our own opinions and pre-conditioned mind-set, current spiritualism is an absolute joy to be a part of and to witness. The light is truly shining as each moment passes by. I believe that it should be embraced, as humanity transcends from the old into the new modern world of spiritualism. Current Spiritualism is what it is and it would be wise to accept it.

Ask the Psychic Detective

Q Dear Nancy, After working in the field and learning so much about crime, how do you trust people in real life and not question everyone you meet? R.J.

Nancy Orlen Weber Psychic Detective

Dear Thoughtful Soul, Trust is built by balancing awareness with an open heart. I stay true to myself, set clear boundaries, and focus on the kindness I witness daily. Light exists alongside darkness— when we nurture love and integrity, we invite trust. Believe in goodness, and we can find it everywhere. With warmth, Nancy

Ask the Grief Guide

Q Dear Brian, I feel like people expect the pain to go away after a certain time. It’s been 7 years for me and no and one asks about my loss and if I ever talk about it, I feel like people look at me funny. Any advice? T.J.

Brian D. Smith Grief Guide

Grief has no expiration date, and love doesn’t fade with time. Many people who haven’t experienced deep loss struggle to understand that we don’t "move on"—we learn to live with it. If others seem uncomfortable when you speak about your loss, it’s often their own fears. Finding a safe space to share—whether with a support group, a trusted friend, or through writing—can help. You don’t need permission to remember or talk about your loved one. If it brings you comfort, do so unapologetically. You are not alone in this journey.

Ask the Medium

Q Dear Colin, My mediumship abilities came on quite suddenly after a near death experience. Communicating with spirit felt completely natural. I’m told that I’m really speaking with guides, and they are the ones speaking to the spirit person. This seems confusing and doesn’t really make sense to me. Can you help sort this out? I always felt like I speak directly to spirit. JR

Colin Walker Medium

Dear JR, I understand your thoughts on this matter and I agree with you 100%. When we communicate as mediums, our spiritual guides are present in the space around us, whether it is our door keeper or the spiritual guide who helps us with our mediumship development. The spirit communicator (discarnate soul) is the one who brings the information forward and places it by thought into your awareness so that you can convey it to the recipient. Colin

Dear Ms. Rose, what are your ethical guidelines with delivering messages? N.M.

A

Dear N.M. Great question! This is one of the most important yet overlooked parts of working as a psychic medium. Doing this work comes with immense responsibility as we have clients who are grieving and vulnerable. This work is about healing, uplifting, and educating. If it’s not that, it may be time to work on one’s own belief systems and learn how to deliver messages in an empathetic manner. We only have a small amount of time with a person, it is important we use it well. Spirit wants to

You Chose the Life Your Soul Needed Michelle Brock

It’s important to not allow tragedy and painful things to cause us to withdraw and close us off from each other, but rather soften our hearts and connect with others in a loving way. And to not turn a blind eye to what is happening, even when it feels uncomfortable to do so. The truth is, your soul chose the life that you are living right now with the intention of pushing you outside of your comfort zone so you could have a chance to learn, grow, and step up to meet the demands and challenges of these times right now, today on planet earth. This is not to imply that it is easy, as it is often very, very difficult. Many of us deal with challenges that bring us to our knees and are even unthinkable and unimaginable to others. It’s easy to see suffering on the other side of the world with relief that it isn’t happening to us, but the suffering of others is ours as well. We are all interconnected and our separateness is an illusion. The point of all of these challenges and suffering are so that we can overcome them, have more empathy for others, and add more love and compassion to a world that is so desperately wanting and needing it. You didn’t choose the life your soul wanted- you chose the life that your soul needed.

Ok guys, this is a hard one. You decided to reincarnate right now and be here on planet earth today. This is no easy task, especially given how much turmoil and suffering is happening right now in so many places all over the world. There are horrific acts of violence, mass shootings, power struggles, attacks on the truth, divisiveness, racism, oppressive systems doubling down – for some of us it can sometimes feel like the whole world is just going mad. Things are not easy right now, there is a lot happening in the world that is pushing us to find dimensions of strength and resolve that we didn’t imagine we would ever need. The events of the world today are also calling upon us to open our hearts to each other in ways that we never have – to give help to those who need it, to be advocates and allies, speak up against injustices and cruelty.

Dancing with Hathor by Shanti

Hathor is the ancient Egyptian goddess of love, beauty, music, dancing, and sensuality. The primary frequency of Hathor is JOY.

Hathor calls upon us to enjoy the pleasures and ecstasies of the body. She is also the patron goddess of music, cosmetics, and all forms of creativity. Her symbols include the sistrum (a percussion instrument that sounds a bit like a tambourine), the menat (a beaded necklace that could also be shaken to produce music) and the mirror (many Hathor-handled mirrors have been found in Egypt). Hathor’s main temple was at Dendera where her birth was celebrated annually on the ancient New Year around mid July, marked by the heliacal rising of Sirius and the inundation of the Nile. The festival was an occasion for unrestrained revelry in honor of the goddess of merriment. Ancient Egyptians loved beer and getting high on the blue nile lily which was used as a narcotic and an aphrodisiac. Priests and priestesses of Hathor were dancers, singers and musicians, and often functioned as oracles and midwives. The Seven Hathors, depicted in the crypts at Dendera, were a group of goddesses associated with fate and fortune telling. Shrines to Hathor were common throughout Egypt and, given her association with fertility, fate and healing, she was also one of the most popular domestic deities worshipped in the homes of ancient Egyptians. Here are some ways you can connect with the frequency of Hathor: Dance yourself into ecstasy Dress up and adorn yourself with makeup and jewelry Get a massage or treat yourself to a spa day Engage your senses in any other way that brings you relief and release

Questions for reflection: 1. What are some of the ways you experience joy in your life? 2. How often do you run this frequency through your body? 3. How can you bring more joy into your life on a regular basis?

Attuned to Light: Elevating Your Vibration Through Sound & Energy Nancy Orlen Weber

From the first noise maker to today’s most beloved music, sound has shaped humans. The beating of a drum, the whisper of wind through trees, and the harmonic resonance of a harp all carry frequencies that move us—changing our emotions, shifting our awareness, and even altering our physical state. Music is not just entertainment; it is a language of the universe, a tool for transformation. Consider J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, composed to soothe a nobleman’s insomnia. Even centuries ago, people recognized music’s ability to heal and recalibrate the body and mind. Today, we have scientific confirmation of what ancient cultures instinctively knew— certain frequencies can enhance focus, deepen relaxation, or elevate joy. For instance, the widely regarded 432Hz frequency is often associated with deep relaxation and harmonious well-being. When we engage with the correct frequencies, we tune our very being. Certain sounds can uplift us, while others can distort our natural frequency. The chaotic buzz of artificial lighting, the synthetic scents in commercial products, the hum of electronics, and even the energy of fear can interfere with our ability to absorb light and positivity. These disruptive frequencies create static, like radio interference, preventing us from fully attuning to our highest potential. Just as a bird instinctively spreads its wings to embrace the air, our souls naturally desire to harmonize with uplifting vibrations. The right frequencies help us feel connected to all of life. Imagine standing outside after days of rain—when the sun finally breaks through, its warmth and brilliance fill you with renewed energy. Light is a frequency, aligned with higher vibrations, we absorb more of life’s wisdom, love, and magic.

Steps You Can Take to Align with Higher Frequencies: Curate Your Soundscape Listen to frequencies like 432Hz, 528Hz (the "Love Frequency"), or binaural beats for focus and healing.

Play Nature Sounds—rain, birdsong, ocean waves—to recalibrate your nervous system.

Move with the Rhythm of Life Dance, sway, or breathe in time with soothing music. Movement amplifies frequency effects, aligning your body with its natural rhythm. Sing, hum, or chant—your voice is an instrument capable of attuning you to higher vibrations. Tune Your Environment Reduce artificial frequencies from excessive screen time, synthetic scents, and disruptive energies in your space.

Introduce Natural Elements—sunlight, fresh air, and plants—to bring organic balance to your surroundings.

Use Essential Oils & Crystals to Amplify Frequency Essential Oils have high vibrational properties. Crystals such as amethyst and clear quartz can help stabilize and elevate your energetic field. Practice Presence & Gratitude Being in the present moment allows you to absorb higher frequencies effortlessly. Gratitude naturally raises your vibration —keep a gratitude journal or take a moment to acknowledge something beautiful each day. We shift our emotional, physical, and energetic states by consciously choosing the frequencies we engage with. When we align with light-filled vibrations, we don’t just exist—we thrive. Life becomes a dance of energy, a symphony of possibility, and a journey infused with the highest resonance of love.

In the past 8 years, I’ve moved from cynic to skeptic and beyond, and I’ve enjoyed a deep and evolving connection with my son, David, since his passing. He introduced me to spirit communication, just four days after I thought I had “lost” him forever. I heard David's voice as a thought in my mind, and the emotional

response I felt (along with the counsel of more experienced friends) showed me I was hearing from David. He complained to me one day, “Mom! I don't mind being obvious. But you have to quit being oblivious!”

I began studying mediumship and learned that loved ones in spirit communicate in all sorts of ways. Early on, spirit communicators would say “Just let me talk!” I responded by deepening my study of trance and mediumship, and I learned to use Clairvacance by getting out of the way and letting spirit speak. “Letters to David: Following My Son into Spirit”, was co-written by me and my son in spirit, and chronicles a love that refuses to die.

I invite you to find your own ways of building a new relationship with those you love in spirit. Being consistent with the time you spend listening, and keeping some record has been incredibly helpful to many. Pay close attention to how you’re feeling when you send a message to spirit, or receive a response. Your heart knows better than your conscious mind when it comes to all things spiritual. I know one mom who has been corresponding regularly with her son, recording a message to him, and asking for a response which she has invariably gotten. Although she began just weeks ago, she is already confident in the messages she is receiving..

After helping so many people find success in connecting with their loved ones in spirit, I am convinced we can all do this if we make it a priority. I will be offering a small group session designed to help people begin or improve their communication with someone they love in spirit. If you’re interested in this, please message me at ⁦www.hello-from-home.com⁩. Let spirit speak.

The Myth of Moving On: What Grief Really Looks Like

One of the most common phrases we hear after a loss is, “You have to move on.” But move on to where? And without the person we love? That phrase always grated on me, as if I could somehow leave Shayna behind. I knew from the moment she passed that would never happen. Grief isn’t something we “get over.” It’s not a mountain to climb or a finish line to cross. It’s something we learn to live with, to carry, and eventually, to integrate into our lives.

After Shayna’s passing, I thought maybe, with time, the pain would shrink or disappear. But grief doesn’t fade—it transforms. Some days, it’s a whisper in the background; other days, it crashes over me like a wave. And that’s okay. Wherever you are on your grief journey, you are right where you need to be. There is no “normal” when it comes to grief. Your journey is as unique as your thumbprint. Society often pressures us to follow a timeline, to “get back to normal,” but what if normal no longer exists? Many people expect grief to be a temporary detour, but for those of us who have lost someone we love deeply, we know that grief changes the entire landscape of our lives. This doesn’t mean we are forever drowning in sorrow. What it means is that grief becomes part of who we are.

My daughter Shayna and I when she was 13

We don’t forget our loved ones, and we don’t leave them behind. Instead, we find ways to continue our bond with them. I still talk to Shayna. I still feel her presence in moments of joy and sorrow. I still honor her in my daily life. That’s not being stuck in grief—it’s embracing a new relationship with her. In my work with grieving parents, I’ve seen this same truth play out in countless ways. Some feel their children in dreams, some receive signs, some find purpose in sharing their stories. No two grief journeys look the same, and that’s exactly how it should be. The idea that we must follow a predictable process or timeline is a myth that only adds unnecessary pressure. So if someone tells you it’s time to “move on,” remind them that love never dies, and neither do the connections we hold in our hearts. Instead of moving on, we move forward—with grief as part of our story, but not the entirety of it. Grief isn’t about forgetting. It’s about remembering in a way that allows us to keep living. It’s about learning to hold sorrow and joy in the same heart. It’s about carrying our loved ones with us in a new way, one that doesn’t require letting go but instead invites us to walk forward together, just differently than before. If you are grieving, be gentle with yourself. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Wherever you are, however you feel, you are exactly where you need to be. And that is enough.

Finding My Way Now.... A Journey of Love By Carrie Brody

How do you find your way after your life is unexpectedly shattered into a million pieces? This happened to me and I had no idea how to find my way.

On November 24, 2018, my healthy, vibrant, loving, brilliant 9-year-old son, Seth, suddenly and unexpectedly “just died.” No illness, no signs, no pre- existing condition. I had no idea how I was going to survive this tragedy. You cannot just pick up the pieces and glue them back together. You are in the dark and don’t have a flashlight, a GPS, or a map. There is nothing you can do to make the heart-wrenching pain subside. You are groping and clawing your way out of a deep hole, but keep falling back in. What do you do when you feel like you are drowning with no lifeboat in reach? You keep swimming and riding the waves. You continue by healing, but not in the way that you follow the rules and you get to “the end.” You just keep going. Why? For love... for that deep love you feel in your soul. You heal for you and them so that you can finish the work they couldn’t. You do this work together from each side of the veil. This is me now. After months of sitting in the dark with pain and suffering, I chose healing. It doesn’t come easily.. But with consistent healing work and facing the darkness, I have emerged with more love, more grace, more gratitude and more compassion. I wake every day with my son Seth by my side. Our continued relationship is what keeps me going and gives me the power to move forward. Because I know I am not on this path alone. I am doing this every day with Seth’s eternal love.

In 2023, I decided to turn my pain into purpose and became a certified grief educator. The only “meaning” I felt was when I was helping others in grief. So, this led me to want to serve the grieving community. I continued to learn and trained to teach others the body, mind, and spirit connection as a certified grief movement guide. I also became a spiritual and transformational life coach, as my spiritual path and connection to my son is what keeps me going. As I help others, I help myself. The more I learn, the more I heal, at my own pace and in my own way.

In February of 2024, I was sitting in meditation, connecting with Seth, and I had an epiphany. I saw a vision of words on a page and book cover. And I heard Seth’s voice. He told me we were going to write a book “together.” He gave me the title and then ideas did not stop flowing. I always said I wasn’t going to write a book, but Seth told me, “Mom, we are doing this.” A year later, “Do You Know The Way,” came to “life.” It will be released on March 12, 2025, Seth’s 16th birthday. This is the story of my life bisected and what can come from tragedy. We can choose to get better or get bitter. Each day I choose better. I choose hope. I choose love. And I do this with Seth through our deep soulful connection. We wrote this book together. It is “our” story now as our relationship continues on a different level, but full of everlasting love. This is how I find my way.
