Dancing with Hathor by Shanti

Hathor is the ancient Egyptian goddess of love, beauty, music, dancing, and sensuality. The primary frequency of Hathor is JOY.

Hathor calls upon us to enjoy the pleasures and ecstasies of the body. She is also the patron goddess of music, cosmetics, and all forms of creativity. Her symbols include the sistrum (a percussion instrument that sounds a bit like a tambourine), the menat (a beaded necklace that could also be shaken to produce music) and the mirror (many Hathor-handled mirrors have been found in Egypt). Hathor’s main temple was at Dendera where her birth was celebrated annually on the ancient New Year around mid July, marked by the heliacal rising of Sirius and the inundation of the Nile. The festival was an occasion for unrestrained revelry in honor of the goddess of merriment. Ancient Egyptians loved beer and getting high on the blue nile lily which was used as a narcotic and an aphrodisiac. Priests and priestesses of Hathor were dancers, singers and musicians, and often functioned as oracles and midwives. The Seven Hathors, depicted in the crypts at Dendera, were a group of goddesses associated with fate and fortune telling. Shrines to Hathor were common throughout Egypt and, given her association with fertility, fate and healing, she was also one of the most popular domestic deities worshipped in the homes of ancient Egyptians. Here are some ways you can connect with the frequency of Hathor: Dance yourself into ecstasy Dress up and adorn yourself with makeup and jewelry Get a massage or treat yourself to a spa day Engage your senses in any other way that brings you relief and release
