Repeat Income—It Can Change Your Life!
The principle of repeat income is a very powerful concept! Repeat income is dependable income that keeps coming in month after month. The peaceful certainty that someone will have a secure income throughout one’s entire life can provide a feeling of assurance. But very few people have had the opportunity to develop any type of repeat income that will sustain them in their old age. Medical doctors don’t have it. College professors don’t have it. Attorneys don’t have it. Neither do schoolteachers, firemen, politicians, nurses, business executives, or accountants. Most people who hold 8-to-5 jobs can’t even imagine continuing to receive an income from their employer should they ever leave their 8-to-5 job. Repeat income is a concept they have never really thought of or even considered. To many, the idea of repeat income sounds too good to even be a possibility. True repeat income opportunities are hard to find. Some suggest that authors and actors have the best example of repeat income because they receive a small royalty every time their book or movie is sold. But a closer look reveals that that income is really short lived because should an author be
fortunate enough to have his or her book hit the best-seller list (necessary for it to produce much income at all), it usually lasts for a very short period of time—often for only a few short months. Even the most phenomenal books last on the best-seller list for only a few years. That’s because once someone buys a book, he or she is not likely to buy the same book again. Soon pretty much everyone who would buy a particular book has already bought one. And as soon as no one is buying the book, the royalties stop coming and thus ends the repeat income. The same is true for actors and movie producers. The true financial life of a movie is extremely short. Therefore, the income stream is also extremely short. So where can one find true repeat income these days? In truth, real repeat income opportunities are very hard to find. Oh, sure, if you own a few million dollars in bonds or dividend-producing stocks, you can have a substantial and reliable repeat income stream. And owning some types of businesses provides repeat income to the owner or shareholders of that business. But stocks and bonds and businesses that are substantial enough to produce

significant repeat income cost millions of dollars. So, in some instances, the extremely wealthy might have repeat income opportunities. But for the average guy, opportunity for repeat income is extremely hard to find. Over the past several years, we have completed some extensive analysis on a large number of income opportunities. Following that investigation, we came to the final conclusion that true repeat income, for the average person who is not already independently wealthy, simply does not exist except for inventors who have an exceptional, marketable, patented invention from which they receive royalties—and at Melaleuca! That pretty much narrows it down!

He later drove it to dinner with his daughter, new Director 7 Ashley Lyons, for a quiet celebration of their advancements. They both love living life with Melaleuca, and their true joy is helping others to do the same. Before Melaleuca, Ron enjoyed an exciting career as an executive chef. “I cooked for well-known artists and celebrities in the corporate world,” he recalls, “and as a general manager and executive chef I ran several renowned restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip. I also owned my own restaurant. It was very much a life in the limelight, and the income was excellent, but I had to work ridiculous hours! My daughter was being raised by nannies. At a certain point I realized my life couldn’t continue like that.” For decades Ron had been passionate about living a healthy lifestyle. “Our whole approach has changed,” Michel adds. “We started out doing this for ourselves—so we could get out of debt. Now it’s not about us at all. Our mission is to offer hope to others that Melaleuca has given to us.” After nearly three decades of building their Melaleuca business, the Beaudoins have some great pieces of advice. One of the most important is this: “Don’t look at Melaleuca as a job. See it as an opportunity,” Michel says. “If you focus on the long term, you won’t be discouraged by the bumps in the road. It isn’t easy, and you have to put in the time and the effort, but if you do, success will come.”
But one of the biggest changes the Beaudoins have seen is in themselves. “We’ve become better people,” Gile explains. “It’s like Melaleuca has been paying me for personal development for 27 years. When I first started sharing Melaleuca, my voice would crack and I would sound like I was going to cry. A Melaleuca business rewards us for getting out and serving others, so I’ve had to learn how to meet people and communicate with them, making so many friends in the process. I went from never leaving my four walls to learning that I love meeting new people.” Michel has seen a similar change. While he was never shy about talking with others, he’s softened his approach. “He used to be very much the contractor,” Gile explains. “Now he’s got such a friendly mannerism in his Overviews. I think he’s far better than I am now.”

The National Director appreciates how open Melaleuca is about the true financial opportunity within the company. “I tell them that they’ll never take on inventory or put themselves in debt to get started with us,” he says. “Melaleuca is simply a shopping club much like Amazon Prime—only you’re buying directly from explore the range of products they could be interested in using.

I Have Grown So Much through Melaleuca Janice Teeter was head of corporate operations for an international information technology company. “That really appealed to me,” she says. Melaleuca especially resonated with Janice because she had suffered a personal health

RETHINK YOUR CONTACT LIST AND MAKE THE APPROACH
Have you ever wondered how successful Melaleuca leaders teach the first two Critical Business- Building Activities? In a powerful Convention 2022 workshop, Executive Director 9 Brittney McLaughlin shares simple tips for conquering your contact list and making more impactful approaches.

When I enrolled with Melaleuca two and a half years ago, I wanted to get out of debt. But I also wanted to serve my community. I had families in my circle of influence that were hurting. And when I learned about Melaleuca, I knew it was different. What we’re doing here is so incredibly powerful, and it all starts with our contact list and appointments—but it’s about so much more than just writing down names. It’s about adding value to their lives. No More Chicken Lists I know that we sometimes use the term chicken list , but I hate it! I’m a chicken mom. I have 13 hens and a rooster, so I love chickens, but not in my Melaleuca business. We are professionals, and we are leaders. We don’t need something called a chicken list. We have a Mission Statement that says we’re here to enhance the lives of those we
touch by helping people reach their goals . SM Why would you be afraid to do that? You shouldn’t be! So in addition to our full contact list, which of course includes literally everyone we know, we need to create a big fish list . We should be asking ourselves, “Who is the next big person I’m going to add to my list? Who is adding value in their community? How am I going to show them what we’re doing here at Melaleuca?” That’s what we have the opportunity to do! When we talk about chicken lists, we are teaching our team to be scared. We should not be scared—we are Marketing Executives! Start to think about who is going to be your next Senior Director and cast your vision to them. Find the people you want to work with. How blessed are we that we get to link arms with people who we really like? Some of the top leaders in my business started their
journey when I cast the vision to their inbox. I just said something like, “Hey, listen, Katie, I know we haven’t talked in a while. I don’t know what you’re doing right now, but I would love to show you what I’m doing. And I would love to show you the vision of this company that I’ve aligned myself with because we are helping liberate families across North America. And I think you could do so well here. Do you have 15 minutes to jump on a video call with me so I can show you what we’re doing?” Tell Your Story to the Most Successful People You Know Think of two or three people who are extremely successful but don’t know what you’re currently doing. Write their names down on your contact list. Maybe they’ll come shop. Maybe they’ll come build a business with you. You don’t know. The most successful people in my

Getting a no isn’t about being rejected. You have to know that a no is just a not right now . And that’s okay. Give people time when they say no to you. For me, it was a timing thing. I didn’t understand. I thought Melaleuca was a soap company from the ’80s. It wasn’t until I saw a full Melaleuca Overview that I understood. So you have to be okay with being told no , and you have to be okay if someone doesn’t join your team. Wouldn’t you be happy if someone found Melaleuca, even if it wasn’t through you? Melaleuca is an abundance-minded company. As leaders, we have to honor that because there truly is enough for everybody. But you have to teach your team these concepts, because it could take someone out of the game if they don’t know that up front. That’s why I tell my team, “I’ve heard thousands of noes . People are going to say no to you. And it’s okay because you’re going to be in the No Club with me. So let’s go, sister! We’re not going to get stuck!”
life know what I’m doing. Many of them shop with me, others are watching, and I’m just waiting. I’m just waiting for them to be ready. If they ever want to make a life change, the door is open—no pressure. But they are clear on the vision and purpose of Melaleuca because I have told them and have reached out. Teach your team that everybody knows successful people. Reaching out to them is nothing to be afraid of. You’re just having a conversation with a person you admire and respect. It could sound something like this: “Hey, I really respect you. You’re someone I really look up to. I know you’re super successful at what you do. And I know you’re really busy, but I would love to just jump on a call with you for 15 to 20 minutes and share what I’ve been doing the last few years. I just feel like you need to know about it. It may or may not be for you, and that’s all good. But I have to share with you what I’m doing.” Join the “ No Club” If you’re going to be a leader, you have to join the No Club. You also have to tell your team that they’ll want to be in the club and that it’s not a scary place to be. The difference between a leader and a newbie is that the leader has heard a lot more noes . I’ve got to be honest with you: I said no to Melaleuca for a long time—more than 10 years. A friend reached out to me one day and said, “You could do so well in Melaleuca.” I told her, “Look, I know it took courage to call. I’m so grateful. I’m really honored, but I will never do anything with Melaleuca. Please take me off your list.” Those words came out of my mouth. And then I was eating my words because six weeks later I called my friend and said, “I think I’m ready to learn about Melaleuca.”
and we’re working from home, so we have to make our home environment a professional arena. This lays the groundwork for success before you write a single name down on your contact list. Appointments Are Everything You can’t wing your way to success. Professionals book appointments; amateurs talk about them. If you’re a realtor, a doctor, a dental hygienist, or any other professional, you book appointments. But for some reason, we get into a home-based business and we think that appointments don’t matter and that we’re just going to wing it. You have to start asking appointment- setting questions. “When do you have 20 minutes?” “When can you come over for an in-home discussion?” Your team will struggle the most with setting appointments, so you have to lead by example. I tell my team,
Run Your Business Like a Professional
I like to ask my team, “If you were going to be shadowed by your mentors for the day, how would you change what you are doing?” Then I encourage them to make those changes! We get the honor and privilege of working from home. Most of the time, I’m in sweatpants and my hair is on a top knot, but I function in a professional manner. It’s about how you show up every day. Will you run your day, or will your day run you? That’s a decision you have to make the moment your eyes open. How you start your day bleeds into the rest of your day. So if you start your day in chaos, it’s going to trickle into your business. Every morning, my team sends me screenshots of their made beds. It seems silly, but we’re professionals,

• “Would you be open if I showed you what I’m doing?” • “Has anyone ever shared Melaleuca with you?” • “Has anyone ever taught you about repeat income?” • “When would you have time this week?” • “What day works best for you?” • “I’d love to book an appointment with you.” You can’t just teach your team Critical Activities 1 and 2 and not teach them how to ask questions. They’ll just stare at the names on the page, and those names are never going to get helped by Melaleuca because your team didn’t understand the steps. You have to teach your team the little skills and help them master them. The time is now. Take action. Be brave. Make the appointment and be professional.
“We are professionals, and we book appointments.” That’s a skill they can take anywhere. And it’s a skill they can use anywhere, whether belly to belly or on social media. Teach Enrolling Questions Never forget that it’s all about helping others. People are not going to remember the size of your checks. They’re going to remember how you made them feel and the value that you added to their life. I’m not going to give you the exact words you’ll use in your approach because it needs to be what’s in your heart and what adds value to that person, but I want you to get comfortable asking the enrolling questions at the end—and teaching your team to ask the questions. These are some of the approaches and appointment questions that I use: • “Hey, are you open to taking a look?”
