RETHINK YOUR CONTACT LIST AND MAKE THE APPROACH

When I enrolled with Melaleuca two and a half years ago, I wanted to get out of debt. But I also wanted to serve my community. I had families in my circle of influence that were hurting. And when I learned about Melaleuca, I knew it was different. What we’re doing here is so incredibly powerful, and it all starts with our contact list and appointments—but it’s about so much more than just writing down names. It’s about adding value to their lives. No More Chicken Lists I know that we sometimes use the term chicken list , but I hate it! I’m a chicken mom. I have 13 hens and a rooster, so I love chickens, but not in my Melaleuca business. We are professionals, and we are leaders. We don’t need something called a chicken list. We have a Mission Statement that says we’re here to enhance the lives of those we
touch by helping people reach their goals . SM Why would you be afraid to do that? You shouldn’t be! So in addition to our full contact list, which of course includes literally everyone we know, we need to create a big fish list . We should be asking ourselves, “Who is the next big person I’m going to add to my list? Who is adding value in their community? How am I going to show them what we’re doing here at Melaleuca?” That’s what we have the opportunity to do! When we talk about chicken lists, we are teaching our team to be scared. We should not be scared—we are Marketing Executives! Start to think about who is going to be your next Senior Director and cast your vision to them. Find the people you want to work with. How blessed are we that we get to link arms with people who we really like? Some of the top leaders in my business started their
journey when I cast the vision to their inbox. I just said something like, “Hey, listen, Katie, I know we haven’t talked in a while. I don’t know what you’re doing right now, but I would love to show you what I’m doing. And I would love to show you the vision of this company that I’ve aligned myself with because we are helping liberate families across North America. And I think you could do so well here. Do you have 15 minutes to jump on a video call with me so I can show you what we’re doing?” Tell Your Story to the Most Successful People You Know Think of two or three people who are extremely successful but don’t know what you’re currently doing. Write their names down on your contact list. Maybe they’ll come shop. Maybe they’ll come build a business with you. You don’t know. The most successful people in my
