DIRECTOR ’ S NOTES
It has once again been an incredible journey to direct our school production. We began working on Freaky Friday towards the end of 2024, and casting our leads proved to be a very difficult task—simply because of the wealth of talent we are lucky to have at The Lakes. Our students continue to impress with their passion, dedication, and creativity in the performing arts. This year, more than 100 students have been involved— onstage, backstage, and in the band. That level of participation speaks volumes about the culture we ’ ve built around the arts here. The production team has truly become a family, united by support, encouragement, and a shared love of performance. I ’ m continually inspired by the enthusiasm, generosity, and growth I see in every student.
We ’ ve also been incredibly fortunate to have Mischa Wright, a proud member of The Lakes Alumni, return to work with us as our choreographer. Her energy, talent, and countless volunteer hours have helped bring the show to life through some truly dynamic dance numbers. In addition, a number of our senior students have taken on leadership roles—mentoring and guiding younger cast members—which is something we are deeply grateful for. Freaky Friday: The Musical is a heartwarming and hilarious story about a mother and daughter who magically swap bodies for a day—and in doing so, are forced to literally see the world through each other ’ s eyes. With themes of empathy, understanding, forgiveness and the chaos of family life, the show reminds us how important it is to stop, listen, and appreciate those we love—even when they drive us crazy! We hope you enjoy this production and celebrate with us the extraordinary achievements of our Lakes Legends.
