all the people were attentive unto the book of the law” (Neh. 8:3). God has given us ears that we might use them in hearing. In Deu teronomy 6:4 we read, “ Hear, O Is rael: The L ord our God is one L o rd .” We will unfold this paper and see what we find. Above the ear we see a large “H.” Remember how to spfll ear; with an “ H” in front of it, we have the word “ hear.” It is very good to listen to the Word of God, and then go and obey it. In James we read, . . be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only . . .” ( 1 : 22 ). We unfold this paper further and find a letter “ T.” Adding this to what we already have found, we have the word h-ear-t. The paper is now heart-shaped. This shows how the truth reaches the ear when we hear and then goes to the heart when we obey it.

REVEALS HEART-HUNGER OF NEWLY- LITERATE AFRICANS EMERGING FROM HEATHENISM TO A NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

I think this must have been what the Lord had in mind when he in spired Moses to write, “ And thou shalt love the L ord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart” (Deut. 6 :5,6). Ears are spoken of many times in the Bible. Isaiah said, “ Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live . . .” (Isa. 55:3). The Lord Jesus in Mark 4:9 said, “ . . . He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Repeatedly in chapters 3 and 4 of Revelation we read, “ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” God wants us to use our ear in order that we might hear His Word, and then allow it to reach the heart.
