THE KING’S BUSINESS

his behalf. He was like the Lord, who as a lamb before his shearer is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth. Here are three lessons to learn: First, let us be careful how we speak against the ¡servants of God. We must be loyal in defense of truth, but we must be loving tb those Who are called of God and be jealous of their reputation. Second, if we are evil spoken of let us bear it in silence. Let us revile not again. Let us leave our cause in the hands of the Faithful and True One. Third. God is quick to resent an injustice to His chosen ones, for they are as dear to Him as the apple of His eye. The punishment of Miriam was Separation for a period. The Jews rebelled against the plan of God in giving a Gentile bride to His Son, and they are set aside for a season.

God heard their criticism and came.to the , defense of Moses. God hears every unkind word that is spoken against His servants and rebukes it as though it were spoken against Him self. Who is this woman and who this man? We never heard of them until God. in His grace, called them to leadership. And He evidently honored them because of their relation to Moses. And now thev malign him. They even question God’s right to make Moses His mouthpiece. To what lengths will poor humanity go in its rebellion against God. If the malice of this pair is startling, the meekness of Moses is surprising. He answers not a word. He leaves it with God. He lets God take up the cudgel in

“One Year in Heaven” [We have Just received a little card bearing the following lines commemorating the home-going of Mrs. Margaret Weddell Henry (Wife of the Rev. J. Q. A. Henry, I). D.), “Our traveller oft o’er land and Sea, who on June 25, 1912, took that last best journey of all—to be forever with the Lord.”—Editors.] One year in heaven, amid the radiant throng, One year of sweet accord in seraph’s song; From earth’s unrest, from stress and sor row free, One year of triumph and of jubilee. 4 One sinless year of peace, which knows no blight, No waning sun, no dark and cheerless night; One tearless year, no anxious thought or sigh, To press the heart or dim the beaming eye. One year with kin and friends who, one - by one, Passed out of life, as sinks the setting sun, And joined the swelling ranks on that far' shore Who voice the farewell message never more. One year with many whom she showed the way, With loving tact, that leads to endless day; “As shine the stars forever,” and for aye, “Soul-winner” here, her name doth shine on high. One year with Christ, with harmony re plete, More sweet than Mary knew, low at His feet; One year’s tuition in the truths sublime. Which were but hinted in the school of time. — J. L.
