There is a sense in which the rod is an illustration of the Wlord of God. Yes, the Bible in its different uses may be "as the rod of God to us. The use of the Bible rod was: 1. A Counting Rod. Shepherd’s rod. Ezek. 20:37; Lev. 27:32? Jer. 33:13. 2. A Confirming Rod. Servant’s rod. Exod. 4:2. 6. A Commanding Rod. Leader’s rod. Exod. 14:16. .4. A Correcting Rod. Teacher’s rod. Num. 17:8. 5. A Cheering Rod. Providing rod. Exod. 17:6. 6. A Comforting Rod. Father’s rod. Ps. 23:4. 7. A Crushing Rod. Conqueror’s rod. Ps. 2:9. Cast Thy Burden Upon the Lord Phe Shunamite’s Son (2 Kings 4 : 25 , 37 ) Here is ■ found a great woman, in hospi tality, in contentment, in trial, as a wife, and in self-control. God sees and knows those coming to Him, v. 25. He gives twice who gives quickly, v. 26. What God permits should seem well to His children, v. 26. Distress drives unbelievers to despair, but Christians to God, v. 27. Small, cold men rebuke over-earnestness ip coming to God, v. 27. Gentleness is strength and power, v. 27. How Much God Loves God so loved me that He gave His Son, —John 3:16. God so loves me as He does His Son,— John 17:26. God so loves me that He calls me son, —1 John 3:1. A Scriptural Sum The text for the following Scriptural sum may be found in 2 Peter 1 :5-7. It is as follows : Add to your faith, virtuè. Add to your virtue, knowledge. Wonderful Rod The Rod is the emblem of authority, power, and blessing, and is connected with the life, experience, and service of the Lord’s people.
