People Team The People Team are the bridge between management and employees, ensuring that both parties are aligned with the School’s objectives. As a team they support WBS in: ■ Strategic partnering: Working closely with management to develop strategic plans that enhance workforce productivity and contribute to the School’s growth ■ Talent acquisition and development: Supporting the recruitment of top talent and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. This includes providing staff training and career advancement opportunities ■ Employee relations: Building strong relationships with employees and addressing their concerns, to foster a positive and engaging work environment ■ Performance management: Implementing effective performance management systems that motivate employees, reinforce excellent performance, and address underperformance constructively ■ Compliance and risk management: Ensuring WBS adheres to employment legislation, minimising legal risks and protecting the School’s integrity ■ Equality, diversity and inclusion: Championing equality, diversity, and inclusion, recognising the value of a diverse workforce, and creating an environment where all employees feel valued and included.
eSolutions As WBS is a large and complex department in the University, we have our own IT team, eSolutions, to augment the service provided by the University-wide Information and Digital Group (IDG). eSolutions comprises of two sections; Technology Environments and Applications Development. ■ The Technology Environments team provide operational IT support comprising of a support service, including a Helpdesk, Server team and an Audio-Visual team who manage the AV systems in all WBS meeting and teaching rooms ■ The Applications Development team is responsible for the School’s virtual learning environment, my.wbs. They are also responsible for mini-my, our fast gateway to online events that are happening right now, and the Management Information System (MIS) application. Executive Office The Executive Office comprises of the most senior management of the School and associated professional support staff. The professional support team includes the Executive Assistant & Office Manager, Senior PAs and the Projects & Events Executive. Finance Office The Finance Office has responsibility for the financial planning and control of all activities undertaken with WBS, including the management of the School’s devolved budget. From a financial planning and monitoring perspective, the team oversees the agreed budgets and revised forecasts for the School’s programme portfolio, research activity, subject groups and administrative sections across the School, as well as supporting the financial business plans for new activities and costings for research bids. The Finance Office also has responsibility for processing all purchasing, travel and expenses within WBS, and the monitoring of the annual academic research allowances.
My role is super diverse and covers the whole student lifecycle, from pre-arrival all the way through to graduation. My predominant focus is pastoral care of undergraduate students and creating a sense of community and belonging.
