Deb N B has worked in the Corporate HRM & IR team for organizations like JK Group, Kirloskar Group & Cummins Group. Being passionate about finance, he has worked with Asit C Mehta Investments, India’s first ISO investment firm as Investment Advisor. He is currently a Trainee Banking Officer with one of India’s largest Private Sector Bank. He has been an orator on various national/international platforms.
With the onset of the new financial year, the buzzword is AOP, Annual Operating Plan. However, the key question is: “What new do we have in the AOP this year?” Do we go ahead with trends, targets and benchmarks again or what? In my 3-year stint in Strategic HRM with companies where the HR budget is more than Rs 5 Crore every year, I have heard most of the “astute HR professionals” say a “Yes” to the above question. Here are a few new things for 2011-12 that can be focused upon apart from “trends, targets and benchmarks” year after year: 1. Many T&D programmes are conducted to develop people competencies and careers. AOP focus: A check mechanism to see has it helped our organization or other organizations?
