Changing Lives in West Baltimore
This community-based nonprofit is dedicated to enriching the economic, social, and spiritual lives of those deal- ing with poverty-related issues in the Sandtown-Winchester, Upton, and surrounding communities through these programs:
Neighborhood revitalization of the 1900 and 2000 blocks of Pennsyl - vania Avenue includes the full renovation of six previously vacant and dilapidated build- ings, transformation of 18 vacant lots into community green spaces and meditative gardens, creation of a three dozen neighborhood murals, and conversion of 1.5 acres of vacant lots into an urban farm.
over 2,500 children and adults annually. Strength to Love II: An urban farm that provides workforce de- velopment, and serves citizens returning to the community from incarceration.
Martha’s Place: Offers a recovery program that helps women achieve sobriety while main- taining a job and housing. The program offers support- ive services such as addic- tions counseling, case man- agement, money management training, and wellness classes.
Jubilee Arts: Using art as a catalyst for social change and empowerment, this program offers ceramics, visual arts, and dance classes, a teen entrepreneurship program, community art projects, and cultural activities that reach
The farm entails 14 greenhouses totaling 1.5 acres, addresses com - munity food apartheid issues, and offers employment to community residents.
