SPECIAL COLLECTION GEORGE SISLER
W e’re thrilled to present an outstanding player collection of cards featuring Hall of Famer George Sisler. “Gorgeous George” batted .340 over a 15-year career, hitting .407 in 1920 and an astonishing .420 in 1922, his MVP season. Initially a pitcher, St. Louis Browns manager Branch Rickey moved Sisler to first base because his bat was too strong to leave him out of the lineup. Sisler led the American League in hits twice, stolen bases four times, and his 41-game hitting streak in 1922 was the American League record until 1941, when it was broken by Joe DiMaggio. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1939.
