Participating in Pride festivities is particularly important for older adults. It provides an opportunity to connect with others, share stories, and celebrate resilience. Many of our older LGBTQI+ members have faced unique challenges, including isolation and discrimination, especially in earlier decades when acceptance was less common. By coming together during Pride, we honor their journeys and acknowledge the contributions they've made to our community. Moreover, Pride is a family affair. It's a time when generations can come together, bridging gaps and fostering understanding. Grandparents, parents, and children can celebrate side by side, learning from each other and reinforcing the values of inclusivity and love. This

Tucson Pride, a vibrant and inclusive event, is more than just a festival—it's a powerful statement of love, acceptance, and unity. For many in our community, Pride represents a time to celebrate our identities openly and proudly. It's a reminder of the progress we've made toward equality and the work that still lies ahead. Tucson Pride offers a safe space where everyone, regardless of age, can feel seen, heard, and valued. The theme for this year’s Tucson Pride is “Together we Rise.” This theme resonates deeply with the experiences of our elders, who came together to advocate for the changes in LGBTQI+ equality and inclusion we appreciate today.
