Vertical & Low Inclination Tangents Steering Mode
Application
Magnetic Steer Mode
1. Kicking off from Vertical 2. Steering and Directional control at inclinations of less than 20° 1. Steering and Directional control at inclinations of greater than 20°
Gravity Steer Mode
Inclination Hold Mode
1. Maintaining Inclination above 20°
1. Maintaining an Inclination of less than 1° 2. Dropping back to Vertical at Inclinations of less than 3°
Vertical Hold Mode
1. Drilling Cement and Casing Shoe 2. Tripping Operations 3. Washing Down or Reaming

1. Kicking curve off from Inclinations of less than 20° 2. Building and steering curves up to 20° Inclination
1. Building and Steering curves at inclinations of greater than 20° 2. Landing Curves if more than 4°/100ft (30m) is required 1. Used to control build rates when ahead of plan / maintaining tangents 2. Landing Curves if less than 4°/100ft (30m) is required 3. Preferred mode for soft landing a Curve
