D-Tech Rotary Steerable Operations Manual

Operations Manual

RPM - D-TECH RST RPM Limitations Rotation (at bit) below 40 will cause the tool to go to sleep and stop actively steering. This is not advisable whilst pumping on the tool as one bank of pistons will be extended and may get worn or damaged. Once the at bit RPM is increased above 40 the tool will resume its previous steering mode. For the upper RPM limit, please refer to the RST specifications in Appendix D. Stick-Slip Vibration Identification: Downhole: • Increased/erratic downhole torque • Increased torsional vibration, from MWD tool • Increased lateral vibration and shock Surface: • Top drive stalling - increased and erratic surface torque • Reduced and inconsistently slow ROP Lateral Vibration Identification: Downhole: • Increased downhole high-frequency shock (10 to 50 hz) • Increased torsional vibrations and shocks • Intermittent transmission or loss of MWD signal and downhole data Surface: • Reduced and inconsistently slow ROP Axial Vibration Identification: Downhole: • Intermittent transmission or loss of MWD signal and downhole data • Increased vibrations and shocks
