I CAN SPRINT WITH AN ARTHRITIC HIP The One Thing (Not PT!) That Made it Possible
Like many of you, I have arthritis. My inflammation is in my hip, and it “catches” when I move it in different directions and causes stiff, achy pain. I know what you’re thinking: How does a physical therapist, the guy supposed to know all about safe and strength-encouraging movement, get arthritis? Well, the simple answer is no one is immune. We all will experience aches and pains as we age … but what if we could nearly eliminate it? You read that right. What if we could eliminate our pain, and while we’re at it, what if we could drastically reduce our risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, mental disorders, autoimmune and gastrointestinal problems, psoriasis, and much more? What if we could grow better and not older? Sounds too good to be true, right? I mean, anyone who promises all of that must be peddling snake oil. Well, I hate to break it to you, but nearly everything you have learned regarding nutrition and wellness has been snake oil. What I’m about to share with you, and what improved my arthritic hip to 95% of its functionality, is the truth. Sadly, it’s not physical therapy. It’s the carnivore diet. Before I go any further, let’s go back to the beginning of my story. For two years, I tried to treat my arthritis with physical therapy, and it did help! I improved my hip’s functionality by 50%, and while I was still in pain, my hips felt slightly better.
But I was frustrated with the progress. I wanted full, pain-free mobility, and I could relate to the pain, frustration, and hopelessness some patients feel when seeking pain relief. With all my knowledge and years of experience with helping people move pain-free, I was not able to help myself beyond 50% improvement. My MRI showed moderately advanced osteoarthritis of my right hip, along with a labral tear. Was I going to have to have surgery? Although hip replacements are helpful to many people, I know they have their limits. I want to be very active as I grow older, and I know the best way I can do this for long-term success is to rehabilitate my own hip. So, I was stuck. That’s when a colleague told me to try the carnivore diet. I was curious. About 10 years ago, I tried the opposite diet, vegetarianism, and I was miserable. It was difficult to maintain, and I just didn’t feel good. Would I really try a similar diet, just in the other direction? What if it only made my arthritis worse? Yet, I figured I had nothing to lose, so I tried the carnivore diet. And I have never felt better in my life.
the benefits and squashing any fears you may have about it. In doing so, I know you will leave with a greater understanding of how the food you eat greatly impacts your well-being. “But Robert! How can you tell us the carnivore diet is better than physical therapy? Isn’t that bad for business?” Actually, no, it’s not. You will still need my staff to improve your strength and flexibility with physical therapy, but in addition, you will also need coaching through the process of optimizing your diet. The carnivore diet is the ultimate anti-inflammatory diet and in combination with physical therapy, offers far better treatment results than physical therapy alone. So, how does the carnivore diet work? As you may have guessed, carnivores eat primarily animal products. The key here is that these products need to be full-fat. Fat is vital to our hormonal development and contains key nutrients. My personal diet consists of beef, salt, butter, and water. Occasionally, I have chicken — with the skin! Remember, you want fat! By sticking to this diet, all the pain in my arthritic hip is nearly gone. I can sprint around the block with ease! I feel leaner, my brain fog is gone, and I’m more focused, alert, and present. I feel more clear-minded, my lifelong

INGREDIENTS • 1 lb ground turkey • 1 onion, diced • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1/2 cup bread crumbs • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese • 2 tbsp ketchup

Worcestershire sauce
• 2 eggs • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley • Salt and pepper, to taste
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 375 F and line a baking dish with parchment paper. 2. In a large bowl, combine turkey, onion, garlic, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, eggs, parsley, salt, and pepper. 3. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in the baking dish. 4. Bake for 45 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 F. 5. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
