T ODD Architects was appointed as architect and lead consultant to deliver 100-bed Nightingale Hospital in Whiteabbey, Co Antrim. Working alongside Beattie Flanigan, Doran Consulting and Currie & Brown the Belfast based architectural firm drew on its extensive and award-winning healthcare design experience from across the UK, to oversee the process of delivering the scheme safely and at speed, while also ensuring the facilities met the strict healthcare requirements of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust. The new Nightingale will generally cater for low acuity/step-down

patients but is designed to provide some flexibility to step-up care when and if required. Andrew Murray, Director at TODD Architects said, “The successful delivery of this vital healthcare facility was the product of an incredible collaboration between the design team, main contractor Dowds Group, the Northern Trust and CPD Health Projects on a ‘live’ hospital site. This monumental team effort has achieved the highest possible standard of healthcare services within a tight timeframe. It has been amazing to witness the whole construction industry come together with purpose to support the tireless work of the NHS in this time of crisis.”

G RAHAM has been appointed by Grant Thornton to deliver hard facilities management services at the professional services firm’s Belfast headquarters. The contract, for an initial three-year term, commenced in November and involved the provision of planned and reactive maintenance services, with the support of locally based, specialist supply chain partners. Grant Thornton is regarded as one of Ireland’s leading accountancy and advisory organisations. Following exponential growth,

it rationalised its Belfast operations in 2017, moving to modern, new offices on the third floor of the iconic Danske Bank building in Donegall Square West. Notably, GRAHAM facilitated this move following the completion of a major interior fit-out scheme. Commenting on the contract award, Gordon Richardson, GRAHAM Senior Contracts Manager – FM, said, “This is a strategic addition to the GRAHAM facilities management portfolio, and it adds to our growing list of blue-chip clients in Northern Ireland, and across the UK as a whole.”
