SAINT-GOBAIN TECHNICAL ACADEMY PROVIDES FREE ONLINE TRAINING WEBINARS, INCLUDING AN INTRODUCTION TO NZEB... Skill-upon sustainable building with Saint-Gobain

S aint-Gobain Technical Academy launched its Online Technical Academy earlier this year as part of its commitment to equip building professionals with key knowledge about the sustainable building agenda as well as the vital skills needed to deliver it. To date, there have been over 35 online webinars hosted by Technical Academy Training Manager, Jason Horrex, and Training Instructor, David Brady. These online courses are free to attend and offer both theory and practical sessions. The webinars cover topics such as energy efficiency, fire and sound control in buildings and vary from 60-90 minutes in length. Since the launch in July, over 1,600 people across Ireland have registered to attend and there has been great success across a varied list of topics, such as: • What does it take to achieve peace and quiet? • A brief but detailed look at Airtightness • Installing compliant fire-resistant Gyproc partition • An Introduction to nZEB • Drylining for fire compliance in Dwellings: What’s changed and why? • Internally insulating existing external walls: The challenges faced and a possible solution • Controlling reverberation: Dry- lining solutions for improved acoustic environments • Not just skimming over the surface Looking forward, the Saint-Gobain Technical Academy will continue to develop online content and new titles are being made available in the coming months. There will also be a focus on expanding the introductory webinars to half and full-day online training tutorials. Saint-Gobain Technical Academy first opened its doors in May 2010 and over the past 10 years has provided training to over 10,000 industry professionals, including contractors, builders’

merchants and architects, as well as new recruits to the industry. With two locations in Kingscourt, Co. Cavan and Dublin, which house facilities for both theory and practical courses, the Technical Academy has been a one- stop-shop for industry training. The Saint-Gobain Technical Academies have been designed to help combat the industry’s skills shortage and

provide training on new technologies and systems, as well as up-to-date information around legislation. Saint-Gobain Technical Academy aims to continue to meet the demands of the industry in this unprecedented time.
