PVCC’s Quality Enhancement Plan, Civic Sense , seeks to build graduates who have a strong commitment to democracy and who engage in the civic life of their communities through collaborative, creative and critical problem-solving. Graduates will: • actively participate in civic life by voting in local, state and federal elections. • actively participate in civic life by engaging in public service or other activities that improve the condition of communities and/or the quality of people’s lives. • be positioned to evaluate multiple perspectives to think critically about issues of public consequence.
Civic Sense at PVCC: • Delivers approximately 15 civic engagement courses per semester and programs and events such as Deliberative Dialogue, a Civic Engagement Conference and Constitution Day events. • Hosts special National Voter Registration Day and speakers events. • Presents the opportunity for students to participate in a statewide democracy summit and collegewide service projects.
PVCC is among America’s best colleges for student voting. (September/October 2021 Washington Monthly ratings) PVCC won the Best Action Plan from All-In Democracy Challenge in 2017.
