El nuevo edificio se inscribe aprovechando el desnivel natural de 8 m de la topografía, entre la base de las escaleras de ambas facultades y el nivel de acera de Av. San Carlos de Apoquindo. Aprovechando esta condición, la plaza-ágora y la Rectoría avanzan hacia la ciudad, adoptando la forma de triángulo equilátero que permite la percepción visual de los dos volúmenes de las facultades de Ciencias y de Humanidades desde la Av. San Carlos de Apoquindo, en un gesto de deferencia arquitectónica y permitiendo mejores orientaciones norponiente y surponiente en el interior. Para aprovechar la luz natural en todos los recintos, el edificio se proyecta hacia el poniente, constituyéndose las fachadas norponiente y surponiente alrededor de un espacio central de luz cenital con un jardín interior. Así se conforma naturalmente un acceso poniente con una llegada exclusiva vehicular y otro desde el oriente por una escalera central desde la plaza. Los recintos se organizan en los tres niveles o pisos -1, -2 y -3, todos con luz natural. The new building is placed taking advantage of the natural 8 m slope of the topography, between the base of the stairs of both faculties and the sidewalk level of San Carlos de Apoquindo Avenue. Thanks to this situation the agora square and the Rectory move towards the city, taking the shape of an equilateral triangle that allows a visual connection with the two volumes of the faculties of Science and Humanities from the San Carlos de Apoquindo Avenue, in an architectural gesture of respect and allowing better northwest and southwest exposures in the interior. In order to provide natural light to all the rooms, the building is pushed towards the west, placing the northwest and southwest facades around a central space with overhead light and an interior garden. This naturally creates a western entrance space with an exclusive vehicle entry and another from the east with a central staircase from the square. The premises are organized in three levels or floors, -1, -2 and -3, all with natural light.
