CONCURSO COMPETITION MUSEO DE LA MEMORIA DEL BIOBÍO MUSEUM OF MEMORY OF BIOBÍO Entre 30 proyectos recibidos, el equipo de Miguel Casassus, Álvaro Ramírez, Francisco Cepeda y Jean Araya se adjudicó el primer lugar del concurso de diseño del Museo de la Memoria y DD.HH. de la región del Biobío en Concepción. The team composed of Miguel Casassus, Álvaro Ramírez, Francisco Cepeda and Jean Araya was awarded the first place among 30 projects received, in the design competition for the Museum of Memory and Human Rights of the Biobío region in Concepción.

VISTA DESDE EL PARQUE. Relación de continuidad entre la explanada y la plaza hundida. La cubierta de la Sala de Muestra Permanente articula el desarrollo del mirador hacia el río.

El certamen, convocado por la Dirección de Arquitectura del MOP, consistió en el desarrollo del anteproyecto para un museo regional de 1.150 m² más áreas exteriores en un emplazamiento de 5.763 m², a levantarse en Concepción. El programa debía considerar salas de exposiciones permanentes y otras transitorias, además de archivo de documentos y material para investigación, entre otros recintos. La construcción del establecimiento se enmarca en las medidas compensatorias propuestas por el Estado tras el Informe Valech. El museo se ubicará a un costado del Memorial de los Detenidos Desaparecidos en el eje Bicentenario, y será parte del remate del eje de la ciudad hacia el río Biobío. A fines de este año concluiría la etapa de diseño para comenzar las obras en 2018. The competition –convened by the Ministry of Public Works Architecture Department– consisted in the development of a preliminary project for a regional museum of 1,150 sqm plus exterior areas on a 5,763 sqm site, to be built in Concepción. The program considered exhibition rooms for permanent and temporary collections, as well as document archive and research material depository, among other premises. The construction of the establishment is part of the compensatory measures proposed by the state after the National Commission on Political Imprisonment and Torture (Valech) Report. The museum will be located next to the Memorial of the Detained Disappeared on the Bicentennial city axis, and will be part of its culmination at the Biobío River. The design stage will be completed at the end of this year, to begin construction in 2018.
