La continuidad peatonal de la costanera y las intervenciones en su largo refuerzan la vocación recreacional del borde costero hacia el sur del terminal. El eje de Av. Independencia se propone como un eje peatonal continuo que conecta de manera directa la ciudad con el nuevo edificio TIP, el borde costero y el nuevo espacio público. Es al final de este eje donde se propone situar el Reloj de Magallanes y el acceso público al nuevo TIP. En cuanto al edificio del terminal, se define un volumen en forma de anillo con un tamaño tal que le permite tener presencia en los dos frentes del terreno, tanto hacia la geografía y el puerto como hacia la trama urbana. La segunda decisión tiene que ver con el emplazamiento de este cuerpo en el espacio, justo tangencial a los vacíos y circulaciones predominantes. A nivel peatonal, y al estar el cuerpo principal del edificio levantado 3 m sobre el nivel de la calle, se crea un traspaso fluido del terreno mediante una serie de umbrales que conecta de manera efectiva y continua a la ciudad con su borde costero. The pedestrian continuity of the coast and the interventions along the way reinforce the recreational vocation of the coastal border towards the south of the terminal. The axis of Av. Independencia is proposed as a continuous pedestrian road that directly connects the city with the new IPT building, the coastal border and the new public space. It is at the end of this axis where the proposal places the Magellan Clock and public access to the new IPT. As for the terminal building, a ring-shaped volume sized as to have an impact on the two fronts of the site, as much towards the geography and the port as to the urban fabric. The second decision deals with the placement of this body in space, tangential to the predominant voids and circulations. At the pedestrian level, and as the main body of the building is raised 3 m above the street level, a fluid crossing of the plot is created through a series of thresholds that effectively and continuously connect the city with its coastal border.
