What to expect ON THE DAY? Ask your guests to arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony and to allow time for traffic and parking. You may also wish to factor in some time for pre-ceremony photographs.

Before your ceremony You’ll need to meet with your Registrars for your pre- ceremony interviews, this is a statutory requirement to check your personal details are correct for the registration of your marriage or civil partnership. Your Registrars will also talk you through your ceremony, check you are happy with all the plans and make a note of any last-minute changes. Witnesses You’ll need to have two people to witness your ceremony and sign the marriage or civil partnership schedule. They may be relatives, friends or colleagues provided they can speak and understand English and the nature of a legally binding ceremony. During your ceremony You will have had the opportunity to personalise the content from start to finish, so let the Registrar officiating your ceremony guide you through. Any words that you have chosen will be repeated after the Registrar. So, you can relax, knowing you’re in safe hands.

After your ceremony Once your ceremony has concluded, you will be seated to sign your marriage or civil partnership schedule. Your certificate will be produced and posted to you within 7 workings days after electronic registration is completed. Additional certificates can be purchased after your ceremony.
