THROUGH THICK AND THIN THE HEARTWARMING IMPACT OF A BEST FRIEND
National Best Friends Day, celebrated on June 8, is a special occasion honoring the unique and cherished bond between best friends. This is an opportunity to express my gratitude for the loyalty, trust, and understanding that my friends have shown me over the years. Having a best friend is one of life’s greatest treasures. On National Best Friends Day, I allow myself to savor each moment I spend with friends. Whether celebrating special moments or navigating challenges, a best friend is a sure companion on your life’s journey. I have a few best friends, each from different stages of my life. Although I have known my best friend since first grade, we became super close throughout high school. We were both competitive athletes and very active in sports, which brought us closer together. While he tends to be more outgoing and often the center of attention, I am much more reserved, but our differences balance each other out perfectly. Despite not seeing each other for months at times, our friendship has always remained the same, picking up where we left off as if no time had passed. We have gone on the fatherhood journey together, watching each other’s kids grow up. This support system has meant the world to me, knowing we can help talk through challenges of parenting and celebrate the wins together. He is a one-of-a-kind person and someone I can rely on to be there for anything. Of course, we have and appreciate our differences, but we also connect on many different levels. When making new friends, I always ask myself whether I feel comfortable around them. I always say that when you can have a comfortable silence with someone, you know that person is a good friend. Finding good friends is
challenging, so I count my blessings daily. Overall, my wife is my true best friend. I rely on and trust her, and we can bounce ideas off each other and respect the other’s opinion. While I have had several best friends throughout my life, she is the constant that will never change. She will always have my trust and respect, and I know we will always be there for each other. “ON NATIONAL BEST FRIENDS DAY, I ALLOW MYSELF TO SAVOR EACH MOMENT I SPEND WITH FRIENDS.” Some of my best memories include vacations with friends, trips to Hawaii, nights out on the town, and countless laughs. You can have more than one best friend at any stage in life; however, it is important to prioritize quality over quantity. That’s why National Best Friends Day is such a great reminder of the valuable role that best friends play in our lives. We recognize their essential contributions to our emotional well-being and happiness by honoring them. After all, without best friends, we would all feel pretty lonely!

Toss to combine. 3. Arrange the sweet potato wedges on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. 4. Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
