My mom gave me the tools to forge my own path, and from her, I learned, through her example, to be strong and resilient, to have faith, and to be patient. Watching her work from a young age, complete her degree while pregnant, and continue her studies while taking care of our home and my sister with a disability taught me that nothing is impossible. All it takes is will, courage, and immense love. Despite our differences, I have always strived to show her that I will be by her side until the end of time, just as she has been with me. I hope that one day I will have the courage to tell you all of this in person, Mom: that you haven’t done so badly, that I understand you, and that I deeply regret the many challenges we have faced together. But I have never doubted that we could overcome them, thanks to you. I wish you all the best, Mom, and I want you to know that your love and your struggle are the guiding light that illuminates my path.
This Mother’s Day, I reflect on the incredible journey of motherhood and the profound impact we have on our children’s lives. As a mother of two wonderful boys—one who is 9 years old and the other just 18 months old—I am constantly reminded of the responsibility and privilege it is to shape their education and development. Driving change in my children’s lives begins with creating a nurturing and stimulating environment at home. With my 9-year-old, I engage in activi- ties that spark his curiosity and foster a love for learning. From exploring science experiments together to reading adventurous stories that ignite his imagination, I strive to make education an exciting and enjoyable journey. I encourage him to ask questions, seek answers, and embrace the joy of discovery. For my 18-month-old, I focus on building a strong foundation for his fu- ture development. Through interactive play, music, and simple learning activities, I stimulate his senses and encourage his early cognitive skills. Every smile, every giggle, and every new word he learns fills my heart with pride and motivation to continue nurturing his growth. Inspiring my children goes beyond academics. I teach them the values of kindness, empathy, and resilience. Through our daily interactions, I demonstrate the importance of being compassionate and understand- ing. I encourage my 9-year-old to be a role model for his younger broth- er, fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership. By setting a positive example, I hope to instill in them the importance of treating others with respect and making a positive impact in the world. Furthermore, I am committed to educating my boys about the impor- tance of respecting women. From a young age, I teach them to value and honor the contributions of women in society. By fostering an environ- ment of respect and equality, I aim to raise them to become responsible men who advocate for gender equality and treat everyone with dignity.
