FAMILY FIRST CELEBRATING FATHERHOOD AND FAMILY

As the proud parent of six children and grandparent of 11 grandchildren, I know what it means to be a father and grandfather. I have been a father for over 30 years and have the rare honor of working with my children. We have around 30 lawyers between all of our offices — four of whom are my own kids! In truth, I don’t believe Father’s Day is anything special — to me, every day is Father’s Day.

opportunity to have and raise children of their own Luckily, my wife and I did. In just six years, we had six children — three boys and three girls, our own little Brady Bunch. I remember, back when our kids were still young, our family was walking through the mall together — something we often enjoyed doing together. At the time, three of our kids were still in strollers while the three others walked alongside us. Apparently, it was quite the sight and caused one woman to come up to me and ask, “Are those all your children?” I replied that yes, they were. Then, in front of my wife, mind you, she audaciously asked if all of the children had come from the same mother. I suppose such are the curious interactions that one encounters when you have a large family in close conjunction. JOYS OF BEING A GRANDFATHER There are qualities unique to grandchildren that set them apart from your kids. When it comes to grandkids, it is as if you can do no wrong and you are the apple of their eye. They also make you aware of just how quickly kids grow up. When he was still young, I remember one of my grandsons was infatuated with tractors, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment. He could name every piece of machinery and state its intended purpose. We were building a house at this time, so I rented heavy equipment, and we sat together on these behemoths and operated them together. He was just a toddler then, and now he is already 14 years old and is bigger, stronger, and taller than me. He has also lost all interest in heavy machinery and is instead a sports nut: He knows every player in the NHL and follows the sport religiously. If you’re wondering how I’m spending Father’s Day, I can tell you that — just like every day for the past 30 years and all my days yet to come — I will be spending it relishing the fact that I am fortunate enough to be the father and grandfather to my wonderful kids and grandkids.

THE MIRACLE OF FATHERHOOD Before you have kids, conveying the feeling of becoming a father is impossible. When my first child was born, it felt miraculous, and I was unbelievably proud. I actually brought a home movie camera into the delivery room when my first child was born and filmed the birth itself! I was so awestruck by the miracle of birth that I naively offered to show some coworkers the footage the very next day at work, but fortunately, they politely declined. OUR OWN BRADY BUNCH When I think back to my earlier years as a young father with young children, I am thankful for the experience. Not everyone has the

Vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet, and while baked or stir-fried dishes are delicious, you could be cooking out beneficial vitamins and nutrients. For example, heat degrades the cancer- fighting compound myrosinase found in raw broccoli. Garlic’s main beneficial compound is allicin, which can also be destroyed if you cook it. Thankfully, you can find many ways to use these and other vegetables raw instead. If you want the most potent dose of enzymes, vitamins, and minerals possible from plant-based foods, you must consume them raw. From improvements to your skin to a stronger heart, there’s a bounty of reasons to incorporate uncooked veggies into your meals. Here are three other reasons to enjoy them uncooked. FUN AND TASTY The natural crisp flavor and crunch of uncooked veggies can be just a fun and tasty way to curb your hunger. Raw carrots, celery, or tomatoes are an easy snack that won’t lead you or your child into a sugar crash within a few hours. They can also brighten up a salad and are great to have on hand to add to smoothies or vegetable juices. WEIGHT MANAGEMENT Raw veggies are naturally low in calories and high in fiber and can contribute to weight loss or better weight management. Along with being packed with fresh nutrients, opting for uncooked vegetables minimizes food preparation techniques that increase the calories in a meal. You want to avoid dousing vegetables with butter, cream, and cheese. Raw veggies also tend to be filling, so they can aid in reducing your snack cravings. HYDRATION Water is necessary for our bodies to work properly, allowing our organs, as well as key processes like digestion and body temperature maintenance, to function correctly. Many of the most popular and accessible vegetables, like cucumbers, have a high water content. Eating raw veggies like this can give you a needed boost of hydration. While we are always looking for aspiring talent to join our firm, our eyes have been on Timothy Cellino for quite some time. As the son of our firm’s namesake, Ross Cellino, he has been immersed in the legal world all his life. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t have to find his own feet when it came to his legal career. BOSTON BEGINNINGS After graduating from law school in Boston, Timothy worked for two distinguished Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation law firms in the city. He spent several years working in the great state of Massachusetts before deciding to join the family firm in 2022. “You don’t want to start off with your dad as your boss,” Timothy told us. “I wanted to earn experience elsewhere. I may have gotten an earful when I made a mistake, but it was a great learning experience, and I enjoyed my time there.” He had great mentors like Seth Elin, Brian Sullivan, and Brian Cloherty. A FIRST FOR EVERYTHING Timothy is adept at adapting to any situation he finds himself in. After joining our Long Island office, he successfully transitioned from practicing a different field of law in another state to practicing Personal Injury law in New York. Our excellent legal team made this adjustment easier. He now has mentors in George Gridelli, Thomas Cleere, Joshua Sandberg, Bill Loyd, Abraham Meir, and Casey Fundaro, who have 100-plus years of combined experience. This May, Timothy celebrated his second work anniversary at our firm. Lately, he and his wife Nicole have had more to celebrate. In April, the couple had their first child — and Ross’s 11th grandchild — a beautiful baby boy named James. Timothy’s family, his wonderful in-laws, Janice and Donald; Grandma Josephine; and his dog, Sal, have all been supportive of the new addition to the family. Now, Timothy balances being an attorney with his newest job, being a father. Great attorneys like him make our firm unlike anywhere else, allowing us to provide unparalleled service to our clients.

So, put away the frying pan, butter, and oil, and incorporate uncooked vegetables into your daily diet. Your body will thank you!

STAY SAFE THIS SUMMER

As the warm and sunny weather finally rolls into New York, some people embrace the carefree spirit of summertime and forget to prioritize safety. From road trips to backyard barbecues, here's how to stay safe during summer and avoid personal injuries. ROAD SAFETY Thinking of taking a road trip out to your favorite destination on a warm summer weekend? Well, you’re not alone in that thought. During the summer, there is an uptick in the number of cars on the roads. While you should always practice defensive driving while behind the wheel, this driving practice is especially important during the summer. From distracted drivers to those who are reckless, impatient, or careless when driving, more drivers on the road can mean a higher chance of an accident. Don’t forget to remain diligent while traveling during the summer to avoid a potentially serious car crash. BIKE SAFETY Likewise, cyclists and pedestrians should also be aware of the increased traffic. If you’re out for a leisurely bike ride, remember to always wear protective gear, like your helmet, to make sure you’re protected in the event of an accident. If you’re out walking, running, or cycling after dark, remember to wear bright colors and reflective gear to ensure that you are seen by oncoming traffic. POOL SAFETY The roads aren’t the only place you’ll need to practice safe habits this summer. If you own a pool, your risk of injury and potential liability can be high if it is not maintained properly. Ensuring your pool is securely gated will prevent younger

pool goers from entering the area unattended, which can have devastating effects. When you do decide to enjoy the pool area, make sure your cement patio or pool deck is well maintained to avoid a potential slip-and-fall accident. With a season full of outdoor fun ahead of us, don’t forget to take your safety seriously. But if you find yourself in an unfortunate scenario where you or someone you know has been injured due to someone else’s negligence, we are here to help. Call Cellino Law at 888-888-8888 .

WHAT COLOR IS THE SUN? A star’s color — like fire — is based on its surface temperature and the wavelength of colors perceivable by the human eye. Like with fire on Earth, the coldest stars appear red, whereas the hottest stars appear blue. Our sun’s surface is around 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit — a median temperature as far as stars are concerned — and emits light across the entire visible color spectrum. However, our sun actually emits the greatest amount of light in a green wavelength, but not in great enough quantities for our eyes to perceive it. Because of this, if we were to look at our sun from space, the near-equal saturation of colors would cause us to perceive it as being white. Astronauts get the opportunity to witness the true color of the sun all the time — though I hope they don’t stare for too long. WE SEE FILTERED SUNLIGHT. The sun does not appear white from our perspective because of our atmosphere: When sunlight reaches Earth, our atmosphere filters out a greater proportion of blue light than red light, causing our sun to appear yellow. Likewise, when sunlight has to penetrate a greater proportion of our atmosphere — such as during sunrise and sunset — the sun takes on a red, vibrant appearance. Hopefully, this information helps you see the sun in a new light! What Color Is the Sun? SHEDDING LIGHT

Did you know the color of fire is determined by its temperature? For example, blue and violet flames are hottest at a scorching 2,900 degrees Fahrenheit, while red flames are considerably cooler at around 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit. This may leave you wondering: If the hottest fire on Earth is blue, why is the sun yellow? For starters, it isn’t . The explanation is fascinating and may surprise you!
