Harmonizing Life's Rhythms

P roaudio Sound Press (PSP): Holly, it's a pleasure to have you with us. Let's start by discussing some legal challenges in the music industry. Can you share specific challenges you've encountered in your music career in South Africa and how you handled them? Holly Rey: The first agreement I ever entered was the most challenging. Since then, I've learned that going into anything with your eyes wide open is essential. Challenges then become more like disagreements because there is always a solution. PSP: What advice would you give to emerging South African artists to navigate legal issues in the music industry effectively? Holly Rey: Legal contracts are like pre-nups. You need to understand how you're going to get into a 'marriage' with a contract and, if things don't work out, know how you'll get out of that relationship.

PSP: Balancing health and a demanding schedule in the music industry is crucial. How do you manage your health and well- being amidst a hectic schedule, especially during tours and performances? Holly Rey : Balance is key. I've learned the hard way that finding downtime for rest is just as important as doing what you love. Safeguarding your love for music is about setting boundaries and maintaining balance in your life. PSP: Speaking of your latest projects, "3AM EP" and the collaboration with Blxckie on "Slow Down," could you tell us about the inspiration behind these projects and what fans can expect from them? Holly Rey: The "3AM EP" is a personal journey through attraction, attachment, and letting go, reflecting my own experiences and what I was listening to at the time. "Slow Down" with Blxckie was a track I began at a writers camp and later finished during my project camp. Blxckie's feature added the perfect touch to it.
