ENTRY INFORMATION

• See general rules on page 7-9. • The Carolina Classic Fair Management, Employees, Department Workers, and Volunteers will take every precaution to protect exhibits but will not be held responsible for any loss, breakage or damage to any article or exhibits. • All entries must be brought in good condition. • THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES WILL BE FINAL. Who can enter? Residents of North Carolina and the following adjacent counties in Virginia: Carroll, Patrick and Grayson. Where should I go to drop off my exhibits? Please come in North Gate. Please see the map on the exhibitor letter that will come with your entry tags. Where will my exhibits be displayed during the Fair? Event Center “Education Building” (Building B see map on page 12). What does my entry need to be displayed on during the Fair? Breads, candies, and cookies must be placed on a piece of heavy cardboard 6” x 9”, which has been covered with foil. Cakes must be placed on cardboard which has been covered with foil in the shape of a half circle (see example on page ???). Where should I place my tag? The entry tag must be taped to the bottom front right-hand corner of cardboard.

Can I use commercial cake mixes? No. (except class 0051) Can I use eggs in my icing? Yes, but they must be cooked.

Can I enter both Amateur and Professional classes? No, you can only enter one or the other. Who is considered an Amateur? Someone who earns less than 10% of their income from this skill. If you have taught this craft before, or are currently teaching, you are not considered an Amateur. What are the Judging Criteria? Will be listed in each section for each class. What is my item(s) start to deteriorate during the Fair? The Fair reserves the right to remove and discard exhibits that are deteriorating. How many exhibits can be entered in each class? One entry, per person, per class. Can I mail in my exhibit(s)? No. When will my tags be mailed out? All tags will be mailed out after September 1. What will happen if I do not pick up my item on the scheduled date? You can pick up your ribbon at the Fair office up to 14 days after the last day of the Fair. The item will be disposed of at the discretion of the superintendents.
