ENTRY INFORMATION

• See general rules on page 7-9. • The Carolina Classic Fair Management, Employees, Department Workers, and Volunteers will take every precaution to protect exhibits but will not be held responsible for any loss, breakage or damage to any article or exhibits. • All entries must be brought in good condition. • All products must be processed according to recognized safe methods found in the current edition of the USDA Complete Guide of Canning or the Ball Blue Book. • Entries from the same family MUST be different recipes. • THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES WILL BE FINAL. Who can enter? Residents of North Carolina and the following adjacent counties in Virgina: Carroll, Patrick, and Grayson. Where should I go to drop off my exhibits? Please come in North Gate. Please see the map on the exhibitor letter that will come with your entry tags. Where will my exhibit be displayed during the Fair? Event Center “Education Building” (Building B see map on page 12). What does my item to be brought in? They need to be in a standard canning jar of specified size (pint, quart, or ½ pint) with clean standard two-piece lid and ring. ALL jars must be clear. NO colored glass jars. Do I need to label my jar? Yes, all jars MUST be labeled near the bottom of the front with the name of the product, method, and time processing. DO NOT include the name of exhibitor. Where should I place my tag? Attach tags by wrapping around the jar and securing it with a rubber band. Will my jars be opened? Yes, the judges will open the jars to be able to taste the entry. What will happen if I do not pick up my items on the scheduled date? You will be able to pick up your ribbons in the Fair Office 14 days after the last day of the Fair. The item will be disposed of at the discretion of the superintendents. NO ribbons will be mailed.
