Emergency Response Plan: Illinois Emergency Operations Plan Escorts: Required for all shipments of spent nuclear fuel, HLW, Highway Route Controlled Quantities (HRCQ) of radioactive material, and transuranic waste (covered by fee). [420 ILCS 5/8 subparagraph (a)9] Fees/Permits: Spent fuel, HLW, TRU waste, and HRCQ: Truck : $2,500 per truck to be paid by the shipper, with a surcharge of $25 per mile for each truck for every mile over 250 miles. For HRCQ shipments that contain medical related commodities and travel less than 100 miles in the state, the fee is $1500 for the first truck and $750 for each accompanying truck. Rail : $4,500 for the first cask, $3,000 for each additional cask to be paid by the shipper. [420 ILCS 5/4 subparagraphs 10 and 11] Inspections: Required for all shipments of spent fuel, HLW, HRCQ, and TRU waste (covered by fee). on a case-by-case basis during route planning meetings.
