The strength of these estimates will rely on favorable weather, which has been the case throughout June after initial worries around dryness. Yellow pea production in the USA is set to drop significantly. In 2023 production was 608,000 MT, whereas current estimates place the 2024 crop at 485,000 MT – a 20% drop YoY. With demand for peas (approx. 800,000 MT) rising in the USA, it seems inevitable that the USA will turn to Canada to fulfill its consumption.
