AlgaeZyme

Harrell’s ProtectMAX ®

Active ingredient: Proprietary enzyme blend Chemical class / MOA: glycosidases and proteases Rate: 0.4 – 0.8 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft

Active ingredient: Mancozeb Chemical class / MOA: Multi-site contact (FRAC 3) Rate: 4 - 8 oz/1,000 sq ft

A concentrated watersoluble enzyme to aid in the decomposition of organic matter associated with algal crusts. AlgaeZyme can be used as a tool in any algae management program to help degrade crust-forming biomass from algae infestations. It is designed to work at the soil-turf interface and works best when applied evenly in a sufficient water volume to cover the algal crust and subsequently degrade the biofilm. AlgaeZyme has the potential to improve the efficacy of conventional fungicide applications by removing the biofilm barrier that can physically shield algal cells from contact with these applied chemistries. AlgaeZyme should be used in a programmatic approach with traditional algacidal active ingredients like mancozeb, chlorothalonil, and others.

Controls algae species via contact activity. Best when used as a preventive suppression tool in a programmatic rotation with other products such as chlorothalonil, copper-based fungicides, and other labeled products for algae control on turfgrass. Apply as a foliar spray with uniform coverage in a suggested water volume of 1-3 gal water per 1,000 sq ft. Apply after mowing or avoid mowing for 12 hours after application. Do not apply to drought stressed turf.

Active ingredient: Chlorothalonil Chemical class / MOA: chloronitrile, muti-site (FRAC M5) Rate: 4.0 – 8.0 oz per 1,000 sq ft

Harrell’s ProtectMAX® Chlorothalonil

Week 1

5 oz/1000 sq ft

An effective contact/protectant fungicide that can control several different species of problematic algae. Apply in sufficient water to ensure uniform surface coverage. Works best as a preventive approach on young or developing algal films. Use in a rotational program with oxidizers, mancozeb, or copper-based fungicides. Re- application will be required within 7-10 days when algae pressure is high.

5 fl oz/1000 sq ft no irrigation after application .8 – 1.6 fl oz/1000 sq ft

Week 5

AlgaeZyme TM

0.8-1.6 fl oz/1000 sq ft

Jet-Ag®

Active ingredient: Hydrogen peroxide & Peroxyacetic acid Chemical class / MOA: non-selective oxidative contact activity Rate: 0.8 – 3 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft A contact-only control agent for several problematic species of algae on turfgrass. Jet-Ag must come into direct contact with algal growth to be effective. Apply in sufficient water to thoroughly wet the turf surface and ensure adequate coverage. Jet-Ag does not provide residual control and must be re-applied once oxidizing activity dissipates. Best used in a programmatic approach as a short-lived “burn-down” and should be rotated or combined with other effective algae control solutions. Avoid over-application during heat/drought stress and avoid tank mixing with products that are incompatible with oxidizers.
