Benefit
Provides postemergence control of labeled grassy and broadleaf weeds. Excellent goosegrass control. Combine with HPM Quinclorac to control mature crabgrass. Apply with Harrell’s Crop Oil Concentrate or Methylated Seed Oil to enhance efficacy. Controls crabgrass, foxtail, and barnyard grass. Apply with Harrell’s Methylated Seed Oil to enhance control of target weeds. Apply 1.5 pints/A to established mowed fescue areas to control bluegrass, ryegrass, crabgrass, foxtail, and suppress quackgrass. Rates above 1.5 pints/A may injury or kill chewings and creeping red fescue. Hard fescues are tolerant of Segment II. Segment II will not control tall fescues. In unmowed native areas, Segment II rates vary depending on the size of the target grass. To avoid damage to little or big bluestem or switchgrass, apply Segment II before June 1 or after October 1. Deertongue should be sprayed late spring or early fall. Deertongue will be difficult to control during summer months without using higher rates and injuring bluestem and switchgrass. Fall applications of Segment II should be applied after October 1st. Areas should be mowed two to three weeks prior to spraying. Areas with little to no fine fescue will need to be seeded with Harrell’s Fine Fescue Links Blend after the Segment II Application to transition into fine fescues. When applying Segment II, make sure not to track Segment II onto desirable turfgrasses, or injury may result. Apply Segment II with Harrell’s Crop Oil Concentrate or Methylated Seed Oil to enhance efficacy. Control of broadleaf weeds such as dandelion, burdocks, and plantain. Not recommended for brush control. 2,4-D ester formulation enhances cool weather performance. Brush, tree, vine, broadleaf, and sedge control. Great option for hard to control broadleaf weeds Broad spectrum sedge and kyllinga control. No injury to most desirable grasses with no heat restrictions. Proven nutlet reduction. Apply with Harrell’s Non-Ionic Penetrant Plus at 0.25% v/v to enhance efficacy. Application with a surfactant may increase injury to desirable grass species. Clopyralid option for broad spectrum broadleaf weed control that is especially effective on Canada thistle. Apply in the fall 2-3 weeks after mowing fine fescue native areas and after weeds reemerge or in the spring when weeds like Canada thistle begin vigorous growth. Millennium Ultra 2 will not control milkweed, providing habitat for monarch butterflies. Burn down larger weeds in season and achieve excellent broad spectrum broadleaf, annual grassy weed, and small sedge control. Sure Power can be applied in the fall or spring. Selective control of annual bluegrass (Poa spp.) in fine fescue, ryegrass, or tall fescue species. Apply as temperatures warm in the spring. Make two applications 14 – 21 days apart. Check label for application rates to specific grass species. Grassy and broadleaf weed control. Option for annual bluegrass control. Wide spectrum of turfgrass safety.

Ester vs Amine Ester Formulations – contain the acid formulation of the active ingredient(s). Ester formulations are more readily absorbed by plants and thus provide better weed control but have a higher likelihood of causing undesirable turfgrass injury. Ester based formulations are more likely to volatilize under hot, wet conditions causing off-target plant injury.
Amine Salt Formulations – Amine salt formulations are less volatile and less efficiently absorbed by plants. Examples of amine formulations include Confront and Trimec Classic.
