Pythium Root Rot Organisms causing Pythium root rot on cool-season greens become active earlier than previously thought, when average 2” soil temperatures reach 60ºF for three consecutive days. For warm-season putting greens, initiate applications in late-summer or early fall when soil temperatures drop below 80°F for three consecutive days. These applications should be watered-in with 0.125” of irrigation. Large Patch Timing for large patch prevention begins in the fall when average soil temperatures at 2” depth fall to an average of 70-72ºF for five consecutive days when taken at 11:00 am. Additional large patch applications may be needed in the fall and winter depending on your species, location, temperature, and rainfall. Rotate applications to Kalida ® (0.4 fl. oz.) if the annual maximum of Mirage ® Stressgard ® has been reached (6.5 fl. oz. per 1,000 ft 2 per year).
