The Queen's Awards Magazine 2017

INTERNATIONAL TRADE

Based in Goring-by-Sea, World of Buzz – which includes three brands, World of Books (WOB), World of Rare Books (WORB) and Zit.com – joins businesses recognised this year in the Queen’s Awards International Trade category. The Award recognises the company’s ambitious and ongoing commitment to developing the business. In 2015, World of Buzz sold books, CDs, DVDs and games to 175 countries, representing around 90% of all sovereign states in the world. Last year 32% of total group sales by value were made to overseas markets. Set up in 2008, World of Books has seen sales grow to £30 million per annum in just seven years, making it the largest seller of used books in the UK and Europe. In addition, WOB’s circular economy business model allows it to recover value by recycling those books that are not suitable for re-use. As a result, the business saves 26,000 metric tonnes of book and paper waste (equivalent to 70 million books) from landll each year. Zit.com was established in May 2013 as a web- based trading platform to purchase goods directly from consumers. The growth of Zit.com has been so rapid that a new custom-tted warehouse in Chichester was opened in January 2017. WOB and WORB also established a wholesale LOGO for an enhanced entry in the Index of Contributors If you have also ordered an enhanced entry to be placed in the Index of Contributors, then a proof of your logo is shown here on the right.
