KPMG LLP

When we talk about diversity, people immediately think of gender or race, but at KPMG we know that social background is equally as important. We need to ensure talented people have the opportunity to full their potential, no matter where they started in life. What’s more, if the UK is to remain competitive on the global stage, improving social mobility is vital. Last year KPMG published detailed workforce data outlining the socio-economic make-up of our rm. We were the rst business in the UK to publish such comprehensive data, measuring the type of school employees attended as well as the occupation and education of their parents. By tracking and publishing this data, we are holding the rm to account on diversity and inclusion and ensuring the leadership are walking the walk on these issues rather than simply paying them lip service. At the same time, KPMG also shared graduate and school leaver socio-economic data from the past three years to ensure we also make headway in developing a more diverse talent pipeline. In the future, we will be continuously assessing the progress we are making, and these statistics will play a vital role in helping us make sure we continue to build on our achievements over time.

Awards for Enterprise. It is recognition of the work our people do across the UK, often quietly and behind the scenes, to ensure our profession is open and accessible to everyone. And more than leaders and most importantly, the communities we operate in acknowledged by The Queen’s It is an honour to see the work we are doing with the Government, our fellow business

that, it ismotivation for us to redouble our eorts in the future.

PROCURE PLUS HOLDINGS PPH, comprising Procure Plus, Re:Vision and OSCO Homes, has been given the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility award for its innovative approach to procurement. Specialising in the procurement of goods and services for the social housing sector, PPH generates a surplus that funds training programmes within its clients’ communities. This surplus is achieved through an intelligent approach to procurement of materials and services that means its customers pay between 15-20% better rates. A nominal 1% of these nancial savings are then combined with exemplary social value, engaging with appropriate agencies. PPH was recognised for its sustained support for those who are furthest from the job market, with 83% of candidates completing a level 2 qualication or apprenticeship or remaining in employment beyond six months. In the last eight years, it has helped more than 1,320 people into sustainable employment. Mike Brogan, Chief Executive at Procure Plus, explained: “We’re incredibly proud to have won this prestigious accolade. It is testament to the hard work, dedication and passion of the team at Procure Plus and our partners.

“Procure Plus was created to deliver outstanding procurement services and social benets to people in local communities. Over the years, we’ve been committed to promoting opportunity through social mobility and being recognised for our eorts, on such a scale, means a lot.” One of the initiatives set up by PPH is OSCO Homes, a wholly-owned subsidiary that trains inmates from HM Hindley Prison on o-site construction methods for homes. These inmates work in the OSCO factory and are oered full-time employment on release. Michael McNally, a former inmate involved in the project, commented: “Since being released, I’ve started working for OSCO using my new rendering skills. It’s given me something to focus on. I’ve been inside a few times in my life and if something like this had been available earlier, it would’ve changed my decision making and I wouldn’t have re-oended.”
