WP Annual Report SEP25

Attract and retain a diverse and inclusive workforce

We are focused on supporting sustainable jobs, strengthening local capabilities, and fostering economic resilience in the regions we serve. We play a key role in leveraging our procurement practices to drive positive social outcomes. Our procurement framework aligns with the WA Government’s ’s Social Procurement Framework, ensuring that our purchasing decisions support local employment, Aboriginal businesses, and regional development. We implement and uphold the: • Aboriginal Procurement Policy • WA Jobs Act Industry Participation Strategy and Participation Plans • WA Buy Local Policy. These initiatives support our commitment to ethical and socially responsible procurement that benefits the broader Western Australian community. Additionally, Western Power continues to advance its efforts under the Modern Slavery Act 2018. Through our Modern Slavery Statement, we are strengthening our due diligence processes, improving risk assessments across our operations and supply chains, and deepening our engagement with suppliers to prevent and address modern slavery risks. We remain focused on fostering a fair and human rights-centred transition that benefits all Western Australians, particularly those most impacted by structural change in the energy system. Climate risk management Western Power applies a structured, consistent, and system-wide approach to managing climate- related risks, guided by the principles of ISO 31000:2018 – Risk Management – Principles and Guidelines. Our risk management framework supports proactive identification and treatment of both physical and transition climate risks, while aligning with our corporate strategy and sustainability objectives. We manage climate risk in line with Board-endorsed Risk Appetite Statements, which are reviewed annually. These statements reflect our willingness to consider solutions that may not offer the lowest financial cost but deliver stronger environmental and social outcomes in support of long-term network resilience and community benefit. Climate change risks and opportunities are considered across two core lenses: • Adaptation: ensuring our infrastructure remains resilient and reliable amid increasingly frequent and severe weather events. • Transition: preparing for the regulatory, economic, and technological shifts associated with decarbonising the energy system.

To support Western Power’s goal of attracting and retaining a diverse and inclusive workforce, the People Strategy 2025–2030 emphasises creating a workplace culture where safety, respect, and belonging are foundational. The strategy prioritises embedding inclusivity into every aspect of the employee experience, from recruitment to career development. By fostering a safe and caring environment and promoting holistic wellbeing, Western Power aims to ensure that all employees—regardless of background—feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. The strategy focuses on reimagining work and workforce design to embrace diversity and digital transformation. This includes diversifying talent sourcing approaches, enhancing leadership capabilities, and creating engaging, sustainable workspaces that reflect the needs of a modern, inclusive workforce. Through these initiatives, Western Power is committed to building a future-ready organisation that not only attracts top talent from all walks of life but also retains them by offering meaningful, equitable, and growth-oriented career experiences. As WA transitions to a low-carbon energy future, Western Power remains committed to ensuring that no one is left behind. We recognise that the shift away from fossil fuel-based generation will have significant implications for workers, regional communities, and industries linked to traditional energy supply chains. It is critical that this transition is both just and inclusive, creating opportunities while mitigating adverse social and economic impacts. Western Power is proactively engaging with our workforce, industry partners, communities, and government stakeholders to understand and respond to the challenges and opportunities that decarbonisation presents.
