WP Annual Report SEP25

Transmission expansion and scoping Western Power is delivering the network infrastructure needed to achieve the State Government’s vision for WA as a world-leading clean energy powerhouse. We’ve begun the initial phase of transmission augmentation, with construction of the northern project commencing in June 2025. To support this, regional engagement with landowners, Shires and relevant stakeholders, continued in 2024 and 2025. Metropolitan engagement with the community, landowners and wider stakeholders was strategically planned mid-2025, aligned with contractor engagement strategies. Planning and scoping of network expansion east from Collie is occurring in two stages, enabling us to manage connections for projects already well-progressed, while supporting a smooth and efficient integration for future energy needs.

Initial environmental and technical studies for stage one began in 2023 and have since been ongoing to refine a study corridor for further investigation, refinement and consultation. Regional Connect The initial target areas identified for engagement in FY25 were Lancelin (Shire of Gingin), Shire of Northampton, Shire of Irwin, Shire of Gnowangerup and Shire of Lake Grace. Western Power hosted community drop-in sessions in Lancelin, Northampton, Dongara, Gnowangerup and Lake Grace to gain feedback from those communities, which has resulted in new network enhancements and asset upgrades being planned or implemented at those locations. For more information on Regional Connect, see page 49.
