Teachout, Rüesch Recognized With Label Awards BY GREG KISHBAUGH Ferdinand Rüesch IV of Gallus Ferd. Rüesch AG and Paul Teachout of Harper Corporation of America will both be recognized for their contri- butions to the label industry at the upcoming Labelexpo show, taking place September 10-12, 2024 The winner of the R. Stanton Avery Special Recognition Award, sponsored by Avery Dennison, is Ferdinand Rüesch IV, Senior Vice President, Global Key Accounts, Anchor Investor Heidelberger Druck- maschinen AG, Gallus Ferd. Rüesch AG.

Brook + Whittle’s BlockOut Receives APR Certification Brook + Whittle’s GreenLabel BlockOut light-blocking shrink sleeve solution has re- ceived recognition from the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) as meeting or exceed- ing the voluntary requirements for APR De- sign for Recyclability Recognition.

Additionally, How2Recycle has evaluated the solution and has pre-qualified it as widely recyclable on eligible clear PET bottles. The recognition from both organizations highlights Brook + Whittle’s commitment to advancing circular packaging solutions and its role in driving sustainability in the labeling industry. The APR Design for Recyclability Recogni- tion program evaluates the materials, compo- nents, and design of packaging to ensure it is compatible with recycling systems and can be effectively recycled. Brook + Whittle’s recycla- ble light-blocking shrink sleeve has been rec- ognized for its design that not only meets the high recyclability standards but also offers su- perior protection for light-sensitive products, said the company. How2Recycle is a standardized labeling system that clearly communicates recycling instructions to the public.

This award recognizes outstanding individuals who reflect the key values and vision of Stan Avery and his innovative breakthroughs that founded the label industry. Ferdinand Rüesch IV — known throughout the industry as Ferdi — took over the Gallus Group business from his father in the 1990s, ac- celerating Gallus’ growth globally, founding subsidiaries in the United States, Australia, Germany, Denmark and the United Kingdom. Paul Teachout has been announced as the winner of this year’s La- bel Industry Global Achievement award, which celebrates individuals who have made significant lifetime contributions to the label industry both on the national and international stages. Teachout currently holds the position of Technical Marketing and Con- tent Specialist at Harper Corporation of America. He is currently chair of the FTA and sits on the boards of multiple educational institutions. He has actively supported the Phoenix Challenge High School competition
