AIPIA & AWA Smart Packaging World Congress Heads To Amsterdam The AIPIA World Congress, being held in association with AWA Associates will take place November 18-19, 2024, at the Novotel RAI, Amsterdam. International brands such as Unilever, Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, MSD Merck, AB In- Bev, Vion Food Group, Tetra Pak, Auchan and Amazon will be in attendance. Key themes for the meeting will be Smart Sustainability and the collection and use of Data – vital to helping brands connect with and understand consumer needs. Four themes will add focus to the presentation agen- da: Smart Packaging for Sustainability; Driving Innovation in Connected Packaging; Powering Supply Chains & Data Management; and food Safety and Security – the Smart food Chain. Another feature of this year’s Congress will be the first plenary meeting of the Smart Food Chain project (SFC), an EU funded program initiated by AIPIA, technology scouts Packz, consultants Berenschot and coordinators T-Systems. Esko Celebrates 5,000th Worldwide Flexo Installation Esko, global provider of integrated software and hardware solutions, has announced that the CDI plate imaging unit recently installed at Inovar Packaging Group in Texas was the 5000th of its CDI and XPS exposure unit platemaking equipment to be sold. The first Esko CDI — which stands for Cyrel Digital Im- ager — was installed at Warburger Klischee-Anstalt GmbH in the German town of Warburg in 1996. Two decades lat- er, in 2016, Esko then introduced its Crystal XPS LED plate exposure device, with the first machine that rolled off the production line installed at Glatz Klischee GmbH in Austria. In 2023, the XPS Crystal achieved both Certified En- ergy Savings (41 percent for tradeshops, 59 percent for converters) and Dematerialization (92 percent reduction in waste) certifications from GreenCircle, an internation- ally recognized third-party certification entity that inde- pendently verifies the validity of sustainability claims. GEW, DANVAV Join Forces In Mexico GEW has appointed DANVAV as its official distributor for Mexico. DANVAV is now responsible for all label and nar- row web system sales, as well as spare parts and service support across the country. The company was established in 2017 in Mexico City, Mexico, by Director Daniel Garcia to represent GEW for service work in Mexico.
