• Actual program outcomes are used to promote program improvement. • Discrepancies between actual and expected outcomes inform areas for improvement. • Changes to the program to foster improvement and achievement of program outcomes, as appropriate, are deliberate, ongoing, and analyzed for effectiveness. • Faculty are engaged in the program improvement process.

IV-J 1. Describe how program outcome data are used to promote ongoing program improvement:

Program outcome data are used to foster ongoing program improvement. The Student Satisfaction Survey (End of Program Survey) is given at the end of the program (exit survey). Information from this survey reflects on the students’ determination that they have mastered the program outcomes, and their overall satisfaction with the program. The current participation rate is 35% with an 88% overall student satisfaction rating. These results are from the RN-BSN graduates since the generic BSN students are currently in term 6 of their program. Our enrolment numbers in the RN-BSN are low and that impacts participation rates. The survey is e-mailed to students. The plan for improvement in participation is to post an announcement during their final capstone course to encourage participation. Data received will be analyzed to improve the programs. With the addition of the generic BSN program the participation percentage is anticipated to increase. Employer Satisfaction Surveys are sent out no sooner than 10 weeks after the first day of hire. Three attempts with the employer. Surveys are sent out electronically via Survey Monkey. Employer survey data provides information on how well the program prepares graduates for their positions as baccalaureate generalist nurses in the institutions and positions for which they are hired. The survey and input from Advisory Board meetings informs the program of needed updates. No employers from our RN-BSN graduates have been received and we have not had a graduating class from our generic BSN program. Employers attended advisory board meetings and provided feedback. While one member shared how grateful they were for the way information to facilities is provided for clinical there was a concern at the June 2023 advisory board meeting that students were having difficulty communicating with the clinical coordination team. In response the college built a specific e-mail address that goes directly to the team. Graduate Satisfaction Surveys are sent out no sooner than 10 weeks after the student’s graduation date. Three attempts are made with the graduate to receive feedback. Surveys are sent out electronically via Survey Monkey. Graduate Satisfaction Survey data provides insight into how well the graduate feels the program has prepared them for their new career as a baccalaureate generalist nurse and how the program outcomes prepared them for their new role. Unfortunately, we have had none of our RN-BSN students respond. With the generic BSN program, we are hoping we will have better results. Students do provide feedback on surveys at the end of every course, so we still receive their input throughout the program. Retention rates indicate the ability of the program to retain students. Poor retention rates may indicate lack of resources or services to assist students in being successful. This prompts further investigation to determine areas in need of development or change. Retention rates that are extremely high may indicate low rigor. The retention rates for the RN-BSN program have been well above the 70% benchmark. We will continue to monitor retention for the generic BSN program and analyze it against pass-rates to ensure students who stay in the programs are also successful on their licensure examinations.

Program Student Learning Outcomes are critical to analyze and determine whether they have been met. These indicate whether the student has also met the AACN Essentials of
