Addition of new campus

Overview: Sumner College is opening a secondary campus in Bend, Oregon in November of 2024. The curriculum will be the same as that currently taught at the main campus in Portland, Oregon for the Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Program. Dr. Hine, the Department Chair Nursing Programs at Sumner College, will oversee both the Portland and Bend campuses. Dr. Lois R. Hine, RN, MSN, PhD, CNE, holds an Associate of Science, Baccalaureate of Science, and Master of Science in Nursing. Dr. Hine also graduated with a PhD in Vocational Technical and Adult Education. She is certified as a Certified Nurse Educator. She has experience in developing and modifying curriculum for Licensed Practical Nursing, associate degree, Baccalaureate Degree, and master’s degree Programs. The campus is scheduled to open in the Winter of 2024. The BSN program and new campus have been approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (See Appendix A – Oregon State Board of Nursing). The BSN program is accredited by CCNE. The BSN program and the new Bend campus have been approved by the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) of Oregon and the Department of Education (See Appendix B – Higher Education Coordinating Commission). All courses, terms, length of program, and student enrollment numbers have been approved by the board of nursing for the same BSN program in Portland. The BSN program consists of twelve (12) terms of ten (10) weeks. The BSN program is a hybrid format with some courses taught on campus, some off campus using Zoom in a synchronous format and others taught entirely online in an asynchronous format. The program will utilize online courses currently being taught in the current BSN program in Portland by current trained and experienced online faculty. The hybrid delivery format for the nursing program allows students greater flexibility. They will not be required to travel to the campus as often as with fully on campus programs. The blended format also allows for a larger base to acquire highly qualified faculty members. The program will enroll two cohorts of 24 students for the first year (12-month period) and then three cohorts of 24 students each year (12-month period) after the initial year is complete. Sumner College has met with and continues to communicate with healthcare facilities and organizations to ensure adequate practice experiences for students. Sumner College will also utilize weekends for clinical rotations. Sumner college has agreements with an adequate number of facilities in central Oregon that will satisfy clinical hours required in the curriculum. Additionally, the college is in the process of finalizing affiliation agreements with several other sites for clinical and practicum experiences. These sites include skilled nursing facilities, in patient acute care hospitals, surgical centers, rehabilitation facilities, the public health department, mental health facilities, and clinics. These sites will provide clinical experiences across the lifespan. The majority of clinical sites that will be utilized for the Bend campus are in
