Administrative Authority: Ms. Poulakis holds a registered nurse license in the states of Oregon, Illinois, and South Carolina. Ms. Poulakis holds a Doctorate in Nursing from Capella University, a Master’s in Nursing from Western Governors University, and both Bachelor’s and Associate Degrees in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina. Ms. Poulakis brings with her over 24 years of experience in nursing education and clinical practice (See following curriculum vitae). Her background includes: • Serving as Adjunct Nursing and Clinical Faculty at Galen College of Nursing, where she designed and taught both in-person and online courses, supervised research, and mentored faculty and students. • Working as a Legal Nurse Consultant , lending her clinical expertise to legal teams in healthcare-related cases. • Leading professional development initiatives as a Nursing Professional Development Specialist at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she developed training programs and reduced onboarding time for new nurses. • Teaching as full-time Nursing Faculty and serving over 19 years as a Registered Nurse , providing compassionate patient care and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. Ms. Poulakis facilitates monthly Faculty meetings to consult and collaborate with faculty, the Director of Instruction and Registrational Design, and others who support the nursing programs at Sumner College. In addition, Ms. Poulakis meets with the Curriculum Committee and Outcomes Committee quarterly to assess the effectiveness of the program. Ms. Calvert will facilitate annual advisory board meetings to solicit input from clinical partners and experts in the field of the surrounding health care community. Ms. Poulakis is familiar with the Canvas LMS and solicits input from students through surveys and electronic communication via Canvas. Ms. Poulakis has administrative authority for the nursing programs and collaborates with the administrative team to ensure the nursing unit achieves its mission, goals, and expected program outcomes. Key Element II-E: Budgetary Authority: Ms. Kim Poulakis, Nurse Administrator for the BSN program, holds budgetary authority for laboratory and classroom supplies and equipment. Each term, she meets with the Lab Lead Nurse Educator and Lab Assistants to review the program’s needs, including student lab packets, classroom materials, and equipment requirements based on the number of student stations, beds, and planned instructional activities.
