Clinical teaching strategies include demonstration of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor competencies of clinical application in the patient care settings. 1. Teaching and evaluation tools that support the learning and evaluate student clinical performance in conjunction with the theoretical application of concepts, skills, and nursing aptitude. 2. Teaching and evaluation objectives that are based on the American Nurses Association (ANA) clinical standards for nursing practice, the knowledge, skills, and attitudes congruent with Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competency standards for nursing, and the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) Division 45 Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse. 3. Safety, quality improvement, and utilization of resource that is congruent with the Joint Commission Nursing National Patient Safety Goals. 4. Students’ participation in collaborative care management of patient/client/family through data collection, comprehensive and focused assessment and care, communication, documentation, administration of medications, legal and ethical issues, critical thinking, and working with the interdisciplinary health team. Faculty and students are provided training in the use of the technology that supports these methodologies. Virtual simulation instruction is provided on ThePoint website provided to students and faculty. Students and faculty complete a modular online course in the use of the Canvas learning management system. Canvas support videos are accessible in the Pages tab of each course in Canvas. Canvas support and information technology (IT) support is provided to students and faculty. Contact information is provided in all courses in Canvas. In Canvas faculty can access the Simulation Toolkit shell that includes training videos and tools for simulation lab. The Faculty Repository (FR100) is a place on the Canvas LMS for faculty to share ideas for incorporating Next Generation NCLEX style questions into their classes and also share assignments and ideas for courses. A variety of teaching-learning practices are utilized for students to practice what they are learning and show mastery of course and program student learning outcomes. All asynchronous online courses with the exception of MAT105 College Mathematics include a discussion thread. The discussion thread is a scholarly learning experience with a specific focus on course learning
