Kelly Calvert, MSN, RN, RNC Department Chair RN-BSN Program Sumner College 8338 NE Alderwood Rd #100 Portland, OR 97220
Dear Ms. Calvert:
The Substantive Change Review Committee (SCRC) of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) reviewed the substantive change notification submitted to CCNE on September 12, 2022 by the nursing unit at Sumner College. The substantive change notification is in regard to your appointment as chief nurse administrator, effective December 15, 2022.
The SCRC directs the baccalaureate program to submit a follow-up report to demonstrate compliance with Key Element II-D, as follows:
Demonstrate that the chief nurse administrator is vested with the administrative authority to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected program outcomes; and provides effective leadership to the nursing unit in achieving its mission, goals, and expected program outcomes (Key Element II- D). Specifically, though the notification provided a copy of the CV, it did not address whether the individual provides effective leadership and is vested with administrative authority. The follow-up report must be received by CCNE on or before January 30, 2024 . Please email the report, along with appendices, if any, as a PDF attachment to ccnereports@ccneaccreditation.org. The report will be reviewed by the SCRC. As a reminder, all programs are expected to comply with the standards and procedures that are in effect throughout the period of accreditation. This includes advising CCNE in the event of a substantive change affecting the nursing program. Substantive change notifications must be received by CCNE no earlier than 90 days prior to implementation or occurrence of the change, but no later than 90 days after implementation or occurrence of the change. These reporting requirements are described further in the Procedures for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs (2023). Thank you for providing CCNE with the substantive change notification. Please do not hesitate to contact Madeline Wales, CCNE Accreditation Coordinator, at 202-887-6791 x248 or mwales@ccneaccreditation.org, if you have questions or need assistance.
Sincerely,
