Position: Department Chair of Nursing Programs Supervisor: President

Job Summary: The primary responsibilities of the Department Chair are managing the program curriculum in accordance with school and agency policies; assist with course instruction; reporting as required by management; manage faculty, scheduling, classroom, and clinical operations; and participate in local, state, and other organizations that are relevant to nursing. This position will also manage all program facets including teaching, student advising, course development, and maintaining clinical partner relationships. Engage students in active learning of the discipline and in critical thinking • Maintain regulatory standards for the Registered Nurse (BSN, RN to BSN) and Practical Nurse (PN) scope of practice and current requirements as set forth by the OSBN and CCNE • Follow and maintain due process as approved by OSBN for nursing programs • Follow federal, state, and educational laws and rules governing nursing education • Adhere to and enforce all regulatory and accreditation standards for the nursing programs • Attend required nursing board meetings, and participate in nursing practice and nursing education task forces and workshops when appropriate • Monitor changes in standards for approval and regulations to enhance compliance for the nursing programs • Generate administrative reports to ensure operational efficiency for the nursing programs • Manage the approval process and administrative functions of the nursing programs • Develop and implement operational procedures • Serve as advisor to program faculty • Facilitate with faculty to develop, implement, and evaluate program curriculum and policies and procedures • Provide budgetary information regarding program specific budget and promote responsible resource management • Plan faculty assignments for full utilization while meeting the needs of the students • Recommend the selection of texts and other instructional support material • Direct the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of nursing faculty • Direct, develop, and evaluate program and educational outcomes • Assist, when necessary, with career services in advising and/or placing students • Adhere to and communicate college policies to nursing faculty • Administer program curriculum based on established standards for the program Responsibilities: •
