Identify the expected faculty outcomes in the space below:

Expectations are communicated to faculty through the Sumner College Employee Handbook and orientation modules provided to faculty through the Canvas learning management system. The modular orientation is titled Online Faculty Orientation OFO101 and provides information on the college, faculty expectations, and best practices for online teaching. There is also a New Faculty Orientation NFO100 to go along with the Online orientation that provides more onboarding information including expected outcomes and helpful tips for teaching. Faculty also receive access to an online course Growing with Canvas GC101. Faculty learn how to use Canvas as a tool to work with their students, provide information and feedback, and perform grading. An employee who works less than 40 hours per week is considered to be a part-time employee. All nursing faculty at Sumner College must meet the requirements of the accrediting agency, the Higher Education Coordinating Commission, and the Oregon State Board of Nursing. All nursing faculty are required to have an unencumbered registered nursing license in the state of Oregon. Faculty expectations include the areas of teaching, service, practice, and scholarship. Faculty teaching assignments are based on nursing experiences, teaching experience, level of education and academic degrees, credentials and certifications if indicated. The Department Chair and the Director of Education assist in planning, supervising, and managing faculty teaching assignments. The schedule is shared with faculty to allow faculty to choose assignments that best utilize their knowledge and experience. Faculty members are required to engage in scholarship through professional development. Professional development focuses on both active teaching strategies that are beneficial to the learning environment and continued competence in their field of practice. Professional and experiential evidence and documentation are submitted to the Human Resource Department and are reviewed annually during faculty evaluations. New faculty receive a comprehensive orientation, followed by 30-day observation in the assigned teaching area, and annual performance evaluation. NurseTim is provided for all faculty to perform professional development, in-services are provided by the college, and attendance at conferences or other professional growth activities are supported. Faculty engage in service through active participation on committees, providing student advising, and maintaining office hours. All faculty are required to schedule office hours per week to be available to meet and correspond with students. The day and time of office hours can vary by term based on teaching schedules but must be posted at the beginning of each term. All remaining hours will be used for grading and prepping for courses and attending faculty meetings and in-services. Faculty make recommendations for course materials, instructional equipment and other resources, and revisions to curriculum. Faculty may also provide service to
